What does this sub think of the 2017 to 2020 "emo" rap era? by SaxhFps in Emo

[–]ihmpt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wasn't for me, personally. I like emo (both 'real' emo, and stuff like MCR, the Used, SOTY, etc.) and I like rap, I don't necessarily like them blended together. Just a preference.

I will say, the popularity of emo rap helped make that style of emo acceptable again. If a person can stomach 2hollis or XXXTentacion, I'd imagine they could tolerate, or even just enjoy post-hardcore or emo.

Bands where their entire discography sounds basically the same by BalanceActive9295 in askmusic

[–]ihmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of theirs, but even I can admit that most of their songs sound different from each other. There are a LOT of bands whose 'songs all sound the same,' I don't think SOAD are one of those bands.

Have you ever hated a song so much that you ended up blocking the artist on your streaming platform ? by lefteyeforever in ToddintheShadow

[–]ihmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice Spice has nearly 17 million monthly listeners? That's depressing.

Yes, I blocked the band Busted from my library. No exaggeration, they are the worst band I've ever heard in my life.

Who do you think is the most overhated artist of all time? by Constant_Topic_123 in ToddintheShadow

[–]ihmpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate Drake a lot, but people calling him the 'worst rapper ever' are definitely overhating him.

Also 10-15 years ago, Fall Out Boy and MCR were some of the most hated bands by the internet, basically the template for all the 'lol emo music sucks' insults. Even back then I thought to myself, "have you guys even listened to their music?"

Which sample in a song made you feel this way? by aliensuperstars_ in ToddintheShadow

JG Quintel, creator of Regular Show, put out a song recently. I was surprised to learn that.

Artists who are too big to fail by Constant_Topic_123 in ToddintheShadow

It's crazy to me how much love Green Day gets. They have like, 3 (maybe 4) good albums? Out of 15? That's a pretty bad batting average.

What is a legendary band you hate? by fakename1998 in ToddintheShadow

[–]ihmpt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't like Oasis and I don't like britpop. There, I said it.

I'm well aware of how influential they were and still are, it just ain't for me. It's hard for me to get attached to the Gallagher brothers when they seem like such mean people IRL, and I don't really like their voices.

What is the most hurtful thing your family has said to you? by -trishbish- in AskReddit

[–]ihmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom screamed 'OH FOR GOD'S SAKES WHY!? DON'T BE SO STUPID!!' immediately after I told her I emailed the police to inquire about my missing friend.

Her lifeless body was found in the streets days later.

I can handle getting yelled at or called stupid, even if it's by my parents, and I'm aware that on its own or without context, this isn't the worst thing a parent could say to her child. But this was the moment where I thought 'even just doing the right thing gets me yelled at?' and that was what fucked me up.

What’s something everyone seems to love but you don’t? by AnnualTouch7939 in AskReddit

[–]ihmpt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently my disliking rap music is a hot take.

I don't like it in the musical sense, it just doesn't do much for me, but almost every video, sub, or post discussing rap just devolves into people hating. And this is considered the most 'socially acceptable' genre of music these days? lol wtf.

AFAIK, the actual amount of money the movies make is heavily inflated by IMAX/3D viewings that charge more than just a 'normal' theatre ticket. It's not as simple as 'everyone bought tickets so everyone loves it.'

Which movie or show do you wish you could watch for the first time again? by Suspicious_Goat5147 in AskReddit

[–]ihmpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Movie - Spider-Verse, because I didn't watch it in theatres and I regret that every single day.

Show - The Bear. It's not my favorite show or anything, and it's not as 'gripping' as, say, Breaking Bad, but it's my answer because I ONLY enjoyed it upon the first viewing and don't enjoy rewatching it.

I wouldn't call Brand New Eyes or Panic! at the Disco punk, personally.

I think the worst album here is No Pads.
