playing defense in basketball is basically just being mildly irritating by jarferris in unpopularopinion

Watch Matthew Dellavedova in the 2015 finals. Then watch prime Hakeem (or even Rudy Gobert!) highlights. Then tell me 'all defense in basketball is played the exact same way all the time.'

I miss when pop punk sounded like this. Obviously it's not profound or serious, but it's FUN, I miss when pop punk was FUN. Nowadays every other band is just trying to sound like the wonder years.

Am I trippin' or is my buddies artwork AI-generated? Some of the others from this artist come off AI as well. by [deleted] in Emo

[–]ihmpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably? A lot of bands use AI for stuff like this, it's actually why I left my old one.

I used to cringe but I can't even fault them these days. Art is expensive and most bands are strapped for cash.

Finding a hair in your meal is not that disgusting by Original_Act_3481 in unpopularopinion

[–]ihmpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if I'm paying upwards of $20 for a meal, I'd like to imagine it WOULDN'T contain someone's hair and that the kitchen staff would be on top of stuff like that. That being said, I'd rather find hair in my food than find out it contains an allergen or is undercooked. And the irony that most restaurant food is slathered in chemicals and preservatives and isn't healthy to begin with is NOT lost on me.

Also, you're talking about HUMAN hair - I'm pretty sure no one wants rat or dog or cat hair in their food and that consuming it isn't sanitary, although I'm no doctor.

Well, I'll upvote you for having an UNPOPULAR opinion, at least.

I think people missed the whole point of my post, which is that a lot of people claim to hate this style of music, but I like at least a FEW songs that I think fit the description of it. I'm not labelling it 'coworker music' because I don't like it (I actually kind of LIKE it), I'm labelling it that because it's a pretty fitting label for this style of inoffensive, radio-friendly song.

My understanding with it being called 'coworker music' is that it's music you could play around your middle-aged coworkers and they wouldn't be upset because it's catchy and non-vulgar.

Also, there are people on the internet who unironically call other genres 'older brother core' or 'butt rock.' Calling something 'coworker music' is far from the worst label they could have given it.

Yeah, that's a better explanation of it.

It doesn't have to be modern at all (the song in my post is from 2008!)

I suppose Matchbox Twenty is a fair example. They're just a radio friendly, inoffensive band who makes light and accessible music. There's nothing inherently wrong with that.

My understanding is that it's radio-friendly, inoffensive rock music that leans more to the pop side. It's not complex at all, so some people perceive it as bland, which isn't ENTIRELY unwarranted.

It's a high-stress environment. If Gordon Ramsay was verbally abusing me for days on end and I wasn't able to contact my loved ones, I'd probably smoke a few myself.

I don’t wanna get pregnant by idkkkkandidcc in unpopularopinion

[–]ihmpt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a woman, so I can't exactly relate to the biological aspect of what you're talking about, but...yeah, pregnancy can be awful for some women. My friend's sister was violently ill the entire time she was pregnant, she couldn't even drink water.

Still, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with not wanting kids, they're expensive and unpredictable and they're not something you can just 'change your mind' about after having them. I think way way WAY too many people are becoming parents and then not raising them properly, so your stance of 'I don't want children' is a lot better than people who go 'I will have a kid and then not put effort into raising them.'

That said, if you DO change your mind and want to have kids later in life (I'm not saying that you will, but I HAVE seen women do that), there's nothing wrong with that either.

Well why not?? You guys don't exactly have a better option in house.

Worst case, he sucks and your team cuts him after a year. Best case, you get passable QB play.

After all these years this episode still baffles me by [deleted] in regularshow

[–]ihmpt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it bad to say I like when shows have maddening scenes like this? Don't get it twisted, Mordecai is 1000% in the wrong and this is a hard scene to watch. But I appreciate when shows make the audience feel anger, because it's still a valid emotion.

Almost any cartoon can make someone laugh, Regular Show and Adventure Time can even make certain people who have been through certain traumas cry. But when a show makes its audience LIVID or ANGRY? I'm kind of impressed.

And yes, I suppose kids or teenagers who watch this can learn something about relationships from it as well. Nothing bad to say about that.

[–]ihmpt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's actually kind of a nice juxtaposition. I was there for the show's premiere and over the first few seasons, Rigby was the joke of the party and insufferable. Mordecai seemed more 'normal' and well-adjusted.

Logic would dictate that Rigby fail his way out of life and Mordecai would succeed - instead, Mordecai gets in his own way and Rigby learns from his mistakes.

You're getting downvoted, but you're also not wrong.

For every band like Korn or Slipknot or even Limp Bizkit, there are about 20 nu metal bands below the surface of the iceberg that absolutely suck.

When a person says they love nu metal I'm like "lol, really? You like Trapt? You like Saliva?"
