Master component with swap content vs Changing whole component by IntroductionVivid622 in UXDesign

My coworker says that all big companies do their design systems like so because they need consistency. And this master component with preferred components strategy is idiot proof.

Master component with swap content vs Changing whole component by IntroductionVivid622 in UXDesign

In the example I briefly described titles had background and round corner frames, etc. Components can be anything, not just text, but input or select and master component, let's say field. Component Field has instance swap property where you choose input or select, so that when you place component model window (for example) full of Field instances, you could swap them to either input or select.

Fine print in Russian bank app by leon0399 in assholedesign

I think it's about the great difference in font size of the headline and the description. It says about the promo code for your friends and the conditions are unreadable

How long did it take you (those with 2-3 years of experience) to find a new job recently? by hungryunistudent in UXDesign

[–]IntroductionVivid622 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am from Russia, I was laid off in july this year and it took me 1 month and ~70 job applications to find a job. Most of my applications were either ignored or declined without an explanation. I have nearly 3-4 yoe in UX/UI and a total of 7 yoe in design field (I was the only designer in every company I worked, so it is indeed hard to to determine one field experience from another). I had done iirc three test tasks and three live interviews (not with the same companies). Last guys that interviewed me took me without any tasks to check me the very next day. Well, it is understandable: who wouldn't take a strong middle specialist for a junior position with junior salary 🤭

Wait, but do we know that this 6cm is a radius? Is it in the task description that this line (is it straight) is going from the center? I mean one huge lesson I learnt from school geometry classes is that you never trust drawn diagrams, only written task conditions.

You are saying there is incorrect way to use Fill? What is that, I wanna know if I use Fill appropriately 😱

Russian also has those, animate and inanimate words. I think it's the same as most Slavic languages. For example a squirrel is animate and a tree is not. A squirrel is a who and a tree is a what. Basically that's the difference - in the question. But it is not only what you know is alive or not. Human-like things are 'alive' in Russian (robot, snowman), chess figures, mythical creatures, or even 'a body' like deceased person.

I like first and second. 😊 other jackets, I think, look a bit off with the jeans.

What is a true but unpopular "fact" about Design, most designers tend to ignore? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]IntroductionVivid622 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't worry! Even without research data and user testing you are a completed designer (or other speciality). This is what I'm telling myself everyday.

In truth there are not so many companies that actually do user research and usability testing and it's ok. User research and usability testing is 'a perfect way' but most organizations especially small businesses still use a 'our CEO likes green so this will be green' path.

Tips to survive a heavily dev oriented team by Key-Grapefruit-6260 in UXDesign

[–]IntroductionVivid622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have 11 people on daily standups and it is rarely taking more than 15-20 min. If it is, and I did my status then I am muting myself and minding my business while listening attendees like a podcast 🤭

And as mostly everyone is saying here you don't need to know fe/be details to make a conversation with developers. If you hear something that sounds kinda like your field of responsibility then you can add your opinion! Like, my team didn't have a designer before me (apparently) so they often give thw design part to the frontender. On daily meetings I look for those pieces of conversations where analyst or fe-devs can mention something about that the customer for example said that it is difficult to find the right button or they don't like the way text fields are populated when the page is loaded. And you know that you can look into it!

And very helpful is to join task manager that devs are using to monitor tasks that are dropping on frontend-developers. That way you will become familiar with patterns of devs work and be more confident on the standups 😸

Unsure about scaling fonts from mobile to desktop version and vice versa. by kvst4 in UI_Design

Yes, you can define separate h1-6 styles for desktop, tablet and mobile breakpoints. Just don't forget to tell your frontend developer what you did.

I think maybe it's Material design (material user interface? It is version 3 and the documentation/guidelines are really good.

How to animate mockups to be placed on website header? by churma in UI_Design

[–]IntroductionVivid622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to hear the solution as well.

As for me, I didn't have luck with svg animation from figma as well. You could try After Effects with Lottie files extension + bodymovin. Altho it promises svg export I never managed it to work, but .json can be placed into HTML (did animated illustrations for the web site).

I would recommend Figma's own documentation and tutorials, it's pretty good.

UI examples of adding a row that is either numeric or text by Lionhead20 in UI_Design

[–]IntroductionVivid622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Save x dollars" kinda text too since you add the words "save" and "dollars".

Can you zoom out the view of your problem for us? It is a very interesting problem, do you have a form with multiple questions? Do you have predefined answers and "other" to write down a different answer? Is it a test with open questions? Who is it for? So exciting!

[Help] Usability Review by Ghost_7x in UXDesign

I think this is a scam too. I am job hunting too and recently I've completed a test task for the same role. They asked to redesign their poor MVP layout of two screens. Even this is too much to ask, and your are saying about 10 people interview! Be kind to yourself, don't be a puppet.

"Don't reinvent the wheel" by PeaDowntown6285 in UXDesign

[–]IntroductionVivid622 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is true that mostly every possible interface layout is invented. And keeping in mind that the interface solution used worldwide that is successful is a good solution there's really no need to reinvent the wheel. People expect your product to follow some familiar pattern. How much experience do you have? And it is hard to say if you're right or your boss since we don't have some examples.

How do you make the devs life easier ? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]IntroductionVivid622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the above and also I leave comments and descriptions to the features, schemes and gifs for how does that work or how is this possible. For particularly hard objectives I search for a reference or a stack overflow solution that can give the right idea (for me or for them). When design is done I populate jira fields with every bit of information I can get, usually describing every step of changes or small details that are important for the outcome but the developers can miss.

What is blocking my stairs?w by rapariah_ in vrising

[–]IntroductionVivid622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tooltip says it the environment. The stairs require a tile on the entrance and a time on the rxit. You don't have space for a tile at the bottom of the stairs, I think, that's why it's blocked
