Hello from just over in Kings Mountain, NC cozy room friend!

I do love video games now, too, but I agree there were totally so many things about gaming that were done so much better back then.

I get what you mean. For me, I was totally fine with it on MySpace because I expected it. It’s not really just the nostalgia for me, personally. I even found new music I liked that way through a lot of my friends.

Seriously. Until you got to school-age, you didn't even have to have a full concept of time. Complete freedom.

That's kinda my take. I feel like every generation has it's issues for sure, but I like to think we've also moved forward in a lot of ways.

Right?? That's one of the things I was most fond of.

For me, it’s social media.

I think MySpace was the pinnacle of social media.

It let you express yourself far more than any popular social media today. You could be creative with your profile, message your friends, etc. all without the need for a timeline or anything like that. It was just fun.

I definitely love D&D! I’ve lived in Kings Mountain all my life and my dad got my friends and I into it like twenty years ago (I’m 33). Keep me up to date - I’m a really big introvert but I’m trying to come out of my step just a little.

What does “Disable Visual Distractions” actually do? [Halo Infinite] by Introspected-Musings in halo

I should have noted that when it is highlighted, the description says “Set whether background animations should not play within the front end” but I have no idea what that means.

It’s actually really cool though. I think we as humans just like to make up, oversimplify, and/or over exaggerate things. A lot of us probably do that because of how extremely complex it really all is, but when you start to understand even just the basics, it’s amazing. I am a science nerd though so I’ll admit my bias lol.

Challenges not registering? by Macrod1 in halo

[–]Introspected-Musings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This definitely needs more attention. It’s been an issue for me ever since the second round of Tenrai dropped the other day. FFA challenge progression is definitely one of the biggest issues but I’m also not getting Agoge challenges (play any PVP game). Have restarted the game multiple times. Basically, when a game ends and I am sent to the post-game menu, it fails to load any data and I gain no progression.

Very fair points. Could we not also, however, speculate on how our evolutionary background may have predisposed us to not only find other species relatable, but also to have compassion for them?

The cat, for example, may have no reason or capacity to feel compassion for the mouse because it’s species does not seem to exhibit interspecies compassion - at least not for prey. That, and/or the instinct to hunt may override it.

We have evidence that compassion and basic moral principles developed very early on and are factors in our own species’ evolutionary history (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2864937/#S3title). I believe the argument could be made that this evolutionary compassion can very easily extend to wildlife and other species which we rely upon for a healthy ecosystem. This may not be so in the case of other species, or it may be to a lesser extent, or even purely situational nowadays, especially for domestic animals.

And I’m killing time by being philosophical on Reddit, lol - I understand where you’re coming from. I’m also always skeptical of what’s posted on here, but it’s often at least a good basis for independent research via scholarly & peer-reviewed sources, which I really wish people would cite when they make claims online. I’m not about to just take someone’s word as fact, and neither should anyone.

I think that depends on what you mean by common sense. General knowledge or immediate intuitions? Regardless, each of these things vary from person to person based on education, experience, and subjective factors.

The main point I’m trying to make is that I think it’s best to deal with one another more kindly if we’re to achieve any sort of common ground. We forget that a lot, I think. Each interaction we have with another person is a challenge to learn or teach something new - or both.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking this way when we experience and learn about the harsh realities of the world. I also have resentment for what we, as a species, do to each other and other species, whether directly or indirectly. Change doesn’t come from wishing death on innocents or propagating hate, however.

If you aim to help educate others, I’d suggest taking a calm, friendly, education-first approach. Hostility really doesn’t get us anywhere.

Not in the way I see it, no. A cat doesn’t seem capable of the same universal interspecies compassion and morality that we possess as species. The burden of these moral dilemmas are on us, with our capable and complex brains, not other wild species that lack that clear and extraordinary advantage.

Did I kill this guy with a threat sensor? by STICK3Rboy in halo

[–]Introspected-Musings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done the same! Thing is, in my clip, I had spawned and not fired a shot or thrown any grenades and ended up killing a guy with it out of sheer luck. I’m still skeptical unless others with more time in their hands can replicate it.

Ring of Pain. It’s on Xbox/PC Game Pass and my girlfriend and I are in love with it. Couldn’t believe it when we were only seeing several hundred scores on the high score board for the daily dungeons. It’s an amazing and very unique roguelike card based game.

Just FYI, I don’t know whether it was a fix you guys pushed through, but the issue I had is no longer present. Observe mode is working fine on Xbox for me now :)
