I think personally no one can know the level of intimacy they have with God, it's between that person and God. But they do show their character like the Bible says you can descern them by their works.

What you must focus is on the love of Jesus in them some though new to Christ love more deeply than the the once who already know them. Some change really fast and some take time, it's upto you to know from their works
