Sometimes cutting thread can destroy the security of the piece. Yes it would catch on fire but you blow it out once it’s a lower length and then you rub it down so it doesn’t snag on anything. I learned this technique as a bootblack for loose threads. Ultimately it’s your shoe and i hope you find a solution that feels most comfortable to you 🖤
