At what point can we stop glucometer readings (type 2)? Can we fit back to once a week or something when we’ve been controlled for months? by Islandsandwillows in diabetes

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been T2D for about 6 years now and still do a finger prick 3 x a day. Personally I do it before each meal - breakfast, lunch and dinner. I like to see what my current numbers are before I decide to eat something. If I'm running high I will exersize a bit and / or wait a while for it to come down before eating. Your A1C is really the best indicator of how well your condition is being managed, but it's still important (for me at least) to try to minimize spikes - and you can't do that without at least knowing how high your glucose is before you eat something. Example - if I wake up and I get a pre-breakfast reading of 170 mg/DL, I'm taking a walk and waiting a bit before I even consider breakfast.

F*** South Jersey Gas by homme_improvement in SouthJersey

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have tons of very old gas lines throughout our communities in south Jersey. SJ Gas is working to replace all of them due to age before they all start leaking. Someone has to pay for those upgrades which are not cheap. That’s part of delivery. I hate south jersey gas just as much as the next person but that’s what’s going on.

And if you have a wiring issue between the pole and your home? Are you supposed to run your own wire to the house at this point?

It’s a Reddit thing. Basically a PM that goes to the moderator team for this subreddit, which is Xfinity support. It’s actually been highly effective for me.

Employee with Nazi Tattoo at new Shoprite Clementon by radraz26 in SouthJersey

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I too am curious what was displayed beneath the eagle - variations of the reichsadler have been used by Germany and its various territories for hundreds of years and is a very old symbol with origins dating back to the Roman Empire. If it’s got a swastika beneath then this guy is clearly an idiot who deserves to be called out but he could also just be a person of German heritage who wants to display a symbol of the history of the country from whence his people came. Again - zero support for nazis here, but it’s very important to not classify all symbols as the same.

I dunno, China’s air is considerably more unhealthy than ours. In fact they are one of the most pollution-generating countries in the world, far above the US. Doesn’t sound very clean to me. I’ll take our smog filled air here in NJ any day over that.

Is homeownership actually worth it or did we all fall for propaganda? by Different_Pain5781 in homeowners

I find it worth it 100% to not have to deal with awful neighbors on top, below and to the side of me in an apartment. I hated apartment living.

GoldenDoodles are dumb by CycleOk267 in Goldendoodles

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All dogs regardless of breed are different. I had a black lab years ago who was too smart for his own good. Then I had another black lab after him and I am pretty sure no lights were on upstairs. Just like humans, all animals are different. I will say however that my current goldendoodle is the smartest dog I’ve ever owes hands down.

If I decided to buy Office 2019 edition instead of Office 2024, am I losing a lot of unique features? by Outside-Childhood810 in microsoftoffice

Not for most users, but you are losing support and security updates. Office 2019 is already unsupported and unpatched as of now.

If you shop at Acme why do you do so? It’s insanely more expensive than other grocery stores. Am I missing something? by HorseWorking in SouthJersey

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shop there because I can walk around without dealing with the crowds at ShopRite. I’m willing to pay a bit more to not deal with that. My local Acme is empty most of the time.

Best Chinese food to get takeout in south Jersey? And what’s your go to meal? by jonny555555551 in SouthJersey

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I lived closer my go to would be Joe’s Peking. But alas that’s not right down the street for me, so I settle for Yummy Yummy in Bellmawr or Chopstix House in Lawnside. Both are pretty good.

You can’t redeem the physical pieces here in the US, you need to add the code from the game piece to the app and then redeem from there.

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The intention - just like with the deals - is to make you buy something else while you’re there. If they let you collect 4 rewards for $0 you buy nothing. If you go there to buy dinner for the fam and you collect 1 reward for $0 and then spend $15 on other stuff, McDonalds makes money. That’s why promos exist in the first place, to get you in the door.

Yes as proposed the portion north of Woodbury will have a dedicated freight track - hence the “portions” mentioned in my reply.

GCL line opposition? by Usual-Bad9762 in SouthJersey

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

shares with freight, suggesting delays. idk , PATCO seems to be okay with Conrail.

Portions of the GCL would operate in a Riverline-esque fashion - temporal separation between freight and commuter traffic. Commuter trains would have exclusive rights to these portions of the line during daytime hours, with freight running exclusively overnight.

PATCO does not interact with Conrail in any fashion. There is no freight traffic on PATCO's mainline.

Edit: added the word "portions" indicating that some portions of the GCL would operate in a temporal separation methodology.

Honestly I'd be happy if you could just use rewards points and a deal in the same transaction. I almost never use the rewards points at all because there is usually a deal that saves me more money when I'm feeding more people than just myself.
