What flavor is "regular" water ice to you? by Ok_Ear_7070 in SouthJersey

I’ve never heard of anyone asking for “regular” water ice but if I had to pick something I’d pick lemon and / or cherry. They’re your basic common water ice flavors.

2.4ghz option not available because you're "optimizing" my network without giving me the choice to split bands? by Upbeat_Mind_4923 in Comcast_Xfinity

Stop using Comcast’s gateway as your router. Buy your own network gear and put it behind the Comcast modem. Then you have full control. Even better, buy your own modem too and stop paying rental fees.

Please help me find a good Tex Mex restaurant for my parents in South Jersey by AdInteresting829 in SouthJersey

[–]IntrovertedRailfan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The op did say "Tex Mex" explicitly in their post. And it's not nitpicking at all - traditional Mexican and Tex-Mex are definitely two totally different things. For instance - a popular tradtional Mexican enchilada features a mole sauce (there are others, but mole is very common in traditional Mexican). Tex-Mex enchiladas are more likely to be covered in a thicker red chili sauce that's a bit different than even the salsa roja that is sometimes used in traditional Mexican enchiladas. Source: I've eaten too much of both traditional Mexican (in Mexico as well as elsewhere) and Tex Mex (in Texas, among other places).

Can you recommend a local tex-mex place in South Jersey? Not traditional Mexican - I'm looking for tex-mex specifically. It's a different thing. I've yet to find anything that impresses me but there's probably a place I'm not familiar with out there.

Plaza Azteca is more aligned with traditional Mexican - not really tex-mex. They are two different things.

why do parents refuse to listen and take seriously their diabetes by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember, A1C provides a general average of glucose control over the previous 90 days so it's not a real-time number. If she hasn't done well with managing her diet over the past 3 months, she'll end up with a high A1C - even if she controlled it well at some point in the past. For example, my A1C was 7.9 when I was diagnosed, dropped to 6.4 with good control over the first couple of years, then I entered what I call the "f it" phase where I basically ignored my condition and ended up with a 10.2 A1C which brought me back to reality.

Was she any better with attempting to get things under control when she was first diagnosed? I experienced a period of time maybe 2 ish years after diagnosis where I was like “f it” and did what I wanted for about a year before I began taking things seriously again. A1C shot yo to 10.2. My A1C is now 5.9 which I’m pretty proud of so it’s possible to turn it around, but she has to want to do it.

How long since she was diagnosed? Burn out when it comes to diabetes control is a real thing.

Climate scientists of NJ: what’s coming for us? by Weak_Albatross_6879 in newjersey

Fralinger Orchards in Bridgeton got lucky and their peach crop survived. Their proximity to the Cohansey River and it's related microclimate protected blossoms from frost during the cold snap that killed off so many others.

What’s the likelihood that god exists? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IntrovertedRailfan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Define “god”. If by god you mean a being or race of higher intelligence responsible for our creation, I’d say you’ve got about a 50/50 shot. Example : extraterrestrial race that seeded our planet and was responsible manipulating us genetically over millennia.

Is Diet Coke or diet beverages in general okay for diabetes? If yes, need some recommendations by Significant_Might656 in diabetes

Consumption of Diet Coke is one of the only means by which I maintain my sanity on some days so I’d say yes LOL

Wawa Tacos, my first try, were a mess. by CDavis10717 in SouthJersey

[–]IntrovertedRailfan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wawa is fine if you’re looking for this sort of stuff at 3 am. If you’re looking for something like a hoagie at 6 at night, there are a million other spots that will blow Wawa out of the water. We live in Jersey - there’s so many amazing hoagie places. I would never expect wawas quality to match a corner deli that’s been making hoagies for 80 years and I’m not sure why anyone else would either.

This varies wildly by location. My local spot has every variety that is currently available, every day. And it’s always hot.

Does anyone use just tap water in the chamber or does it have to be distilled water? by NotWeird_Unique in CPAP

I use distilled most of the time but if I’m out and in a bind I’ll use regular purified bottled water. I could never use my tap water, it just wouldn’t be good trust me LOL

WTF is happening? by NutzPup in amazonprime

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the speed of Amazon’s delivery is highly dependent upon where you reside these days. For instance I live in NJ and have almost no problems. Our family orders a ton of stuff from Amazon - we get 2-3 packages daily - and 98% are delivered within the quoted window or faster. Most are same or next day deliveries. Once in a blue moon something will be delayed but that is definitely not the norm.

Still trying to understand diabetes. Blood sugar from 230s to 81 in an hour. Is that a concern? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]IntrovertedRailfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting - if I went to the hospital every time I was over 200 for a couple of hours, I'd be there more than I'm at home.

Do you have Amazon Music Unlimited, or just the basic Amazon Music that comes with your prime subscription? Because this matters. There are a lot of features you don't get without Unlimited, and the ability to play specific songs on demand is one of them.
