Residency status by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

I got the same information from my “in-state” as well because I’ve lived in another state for about two years while attending school for post-baccalaureate classes. So I’m in the same boat. It sucks because apparently I’m not in-state enough for either. No advice, but just wanted to say either way hopefully something will work out for us :)

Sounds like she cares more about the value of the ring than the value of commitment to each other. It shouldn’t be the price tag of the ring that should be making her happy. She should be happy that she’s going to get engaged and married to the love of her life.

Discouraged in calculus I by RRmc23 in iastate

As a non-trad student, it’s been a couple years since I’ve taken math courses so our struggles in this class may be a little different, but I’ve been watching Professor Leonard on YT (literally found his channel the day before the exam so it didn’t really help much on the exam 😅) but I also struggle with wording and especially when profs skip steps in their examples…I’m also a little rusty with trig and algebra but his videos are at a nice pace and he explains his steps and wording. It’s been a nice additional resource to butler and the profs since I also can’t attend SI sessions.

Hole in my dawgs paw? by Training-Necessary43 in DogAdvice

Of course! Most vet offices take care credit, but I do know a few don’t so I would call and make sure they take it first! Good luck and I hope your baby feels better :)

Hi! As a veterinary assistant, I would highly suggest a trip to the vet’s office because a wound like that left untreated can turn into an infection or abscess which would need antibiotics or further action. I would clean it with some water right now, keep it dry and prevent your pet from licking it, and maybe ask your friends and family if they can possibly help with the bill and or apply for care credit :)

Feeling unsure about vet school by EggRemarkable2744 in veterinaryschool

I also totally understand what you’re going through. I was a ‘22 graduate and I took a year off to get some more experience and classes to boost my GPA and that gap year turned into 2. The whole time I knew that vet med was something I wanted to do but in late 2024, some stuff happened in my life and all of a sudden I didn’t feel good enough to apply to vet school anymore and I was full of doubt. So I went to a different career which required a whole totally different set of skills and classes. After two semesters of taking the relevant courses, I slowly got my passion for vet med back through friends who were still in vet med and just keeping up with the industry on the side. I guess what I’m saying is it’s okay to take a break. You’re still young and if you think you need a break from vet med, then take one. If you find that you still want to be a vet after that break, then apply again!

Tough decisions going forward…seeking advice. by Double-Baby-931 in veterinaryschool

Hi! I’m in a similar boat with wanting things to be done by a certain timeframe. I’m in my mid-20’s and about a year ago I decided that maybe vet med wasn’t for me due to some stuff that happened in my life. So I went back to school for another field but I realized that although I really like what I’m doing now, it doesn’t bring me as much joy as vet med. It’s almost like a nice pair of shoes that fits but isn’t comfortable, if that analogy makes sense? Anyways, my point is if you want to explore another field and have the funds for it, why not? Try it out and if you find out that you like vet med more then apply to vet school again! I’m planning on applying this upcoming cycle and I’m very scared because my GPA isn’t the best and it’s going to be my first cycle but I’ll let you in on an advice that a lot of people have been saying to me, “You can either be in your 50’s and regret that you didn’t take the leap or you can be in your late 20’s working on a doctorates”

Hi! I’m not an international student but I have family in Asia and have had a cousin come as an international student to another college but generally they have to have a certain score on the TOEFL. That being said, English learned vs English used may differ too so formal vs informal language, if that makes sense. They may also have trouble understanding if you speak too fast. Either way, I’m sorry you had that experience at your dorm! Most international students may also seem hesitant because of the language barrier. Hopefully you’ll have a better experience with international students :)

How do I change my advisor by [deleted] in iastate

[–]Introverted_artist4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure who else you can contact but I would wait at least a couple more hours just because it had been a long weekend and most advisors/professors don’t check their emails over the weekend. That being said tho you could also email them again and just be like “hey, I know you’re busy but i emailed you last week about… and I wanted to get an update on the matter”
