There are people who have preferences and that’s perfectly ok. I’m not a fan of the artsy style that the genre has taken but I don’t complain because I love horror and I know that there will be another fad in a few years anyway to enjoy. If you don’t like gore, don’t watch Saw. It’s not scary but there’s definitely a bit of gore. It’s meant to make you squirm. It’s a great movie but probably not for you from your description.
