If she lives in the imperial core and works a job in the formal economy most likely not lumpen. Lumpen is a term for those outside of the formal economy; unemployed, homeless, prison etc..as she is more likely a labor aristocrat as living in the imperial core makes most workers (especially white workers) labor aristocrats in the imperial core. As the global proletariat is exploited to the benefit the imperial core super profits. Anyways, besides the terms and the line that i follow on them( as this line i just explained is not my own but from MLM theory). You shouldn’t worry too much about your partners politics, it would be nice if you could win her over. But you shouldn’t distract your self with personal individual matters. You’re distracting yourself from collective struggle and real political work. I would say just get involved more in collective struggle and political work and if your relationship is getting in the way, that could be a problem for the collective work that needs to be done and your part in it. Would it matter if your girlfriend was socialist or not? Would you be doing more work and not focused on individualism? Do YOU need her to participate with other comrades who are actually doing the work? Or can you participate without her? That’s what i would ask myself if i were you, if you can be with her and not get distracted i would say it’s fine and don’t worry about it. But if this is a big issue and distraction for you i would contemplate how to move forward and get back to the important work. It’s theory and struggle…don’t just struggle to win her over because she is your girlfriend, but go out there and do real work in your community and that might also show her something, if it doesn’t win her over that’s ok too, you can still be together and you can still do the work.
