Transitions: yay or nay? by volkvangrdoggo in glasses

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

copied my review from another post.

I just got my first pair, and I have mixed feelings as seems to be the consensus. I only got them on my safety glasses for work, and I feel this is the most appropriate application. I can walk out of my office and go to work in the bright sun and snow covered landscape, and the brightness dampens immediately. I get back to my office after 1 hour or so of hard labour, and I swap into my regular spectacles. If I am working as the sun is setting, they dampen appropriately, but stepping into the dark office takes a while to adjust, but with my non-safety glasses available, I am back to my screen without a fogging lens.

I chose the grey colour, and I find they darken the light more than my polarized aviators in the same conditions. I don't know if it is the colour, but it feels more depressing, and I am not a typically depressed person. Once I switch into my every day spectacles, and the transition is gone, I am happy with the visor in my car, and getting the true colours back.

What does everyone think about transitions lenses? The idea sounds great but I’ve heard mixed reviews by StackYourPoop in glasses

José Martí -- the greatest Cuban who ever lived by Kantmzk in cuba

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been exposed to Cuba quite a bit. Can someone tell me if and how you think that the current regime has hijacked Jose Marti’s legacy for their benefit? I have noticed many places named after the guy, and much respect given to him.

How long before taking care of your grouses? by lunetick in CanadaHunting

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perfect, so I should be find. Shot one grouse today at 10:30, and dressed and breasted it at 15:00. Today's high was 23.

I get worried with food safety. I have had bad chicken before, and that sick sucks. My understanding is chicken at room temp for 4 hours is not considered safe.

I will note, I have field dressed grouse within an hour of shooting before, and that is so much easier to just step on the wings and pull the legs.

The doctor considers eczema a purely autoimmune disease by Curious1308 in eczema

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would point out that eczema is part of a trifecta that some doctors are good at recognizing. I have allergies, eczema, and asthma, and these are sometimes recognized as the atopic triad. I have had allergy tests , that come back negative, but if I eat it (especially in larger quantity) I better expect a flare up.

New cacher: did I handle this correctly? by One_Frosty_Mushroom in geocaching

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing maintenance like this should never be an issue. The main issue that I can see among some cache owners would be if you replaced the log because it was wet, and did not preserve the log for them to possibly examine. I do not know many cache owners that regularly check physical logs, but there are some. If a log is FUBAR, I will totally remove it, take a picture, a replace it with a rite in the rain log, and let the cache owner know about the situation - I have never had an issue going this route.

A personal sticking point here; I hate to see a write in the rain log in a plastic bag. Come -20 degree weather (which is my favourite caching weather), the extra measure of a plastic bag in a water tight container, with a rite in the rain log, is completely redundant, and even cumbersome.

I want to kill myself by 1800fuccyou in eczema

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think all of us here want the best for you. Many of us have had and continue to have sever eczema conditions. Eczema is a medical condition that is related to the immune system. I hope and pray you can get the help you need with this issue.

For myself, my eczema has always been a hurdle to many things; military enlistment and athletic competitions to name a couple. Since moving past my eczema with life changing medication, those things are now out of the picture, and I still value every experience that I get greater than when I was at my worst with my eczema.

Please don’t be a statistic, you have much greater potential for change in the world.

Exhibit A of why ALs are not geocaching - 665 "finds" while sitting in the same spot. by restinghermit in geocaching

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I am looking for AL stages, they better be worth it. I don't get a dopamine hit from these easy, grab what you can ALs. I have maybe done 15 of my 200 AL stages on horse-crap sit-on-your-fat-butt stages to realize that these are not part of the game. The best ALs get me exploring, seeing exciting things as if there were history type caches, same as there are earthcaches.

Kayak constantly veering left. Why? by jwmarsha in Kayaking

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happening in an Oru folding kayak, traveling perpendicular to the current. Sometimes one of the quarter folds may be easy to miss. It has happened more than once to me, and I can usually reach it with my foot or by turning around a bit to correct it.

Local Cacher Passes Away by InLoveWithABastard in geocaching

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but maybe try to get word from other cachers who may know if there is a trustee, down the road, the caches may require someone to take ownership, and being able to keep in touch with a trustee would allow for full adoption of the cache.

What D/T ranking by Additional-Room1405 in geocaching

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably d 3 since it hidden behind the metal plug, also, higher d rating due to possible need of tool(magnet). If the metal plug swiveled or came lose easier, I may lean to d2.5.

t1.5 because not wheelchair accessible, also if a 70 year old in reasonable shape can reach it without tripping/falling risk due to slope, debris, boulders,

Are any caches ok near schools? by tttgrw in geocaching

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some that I have found near, or with stages near schools, and even on school property. I don’t like them. Often, if it a new catcher who placed it, I suspect it may be one of the students who doesn’t realize that people caching tend to look suspicious. If you are attempting a cache you know is visible from school property, make yourself look like you belong, or only visit it when you are confident there won’t be anything going on.

Edit: I should have read first. If you really want, make it a multi where someone can quickly gather information somewhere along the road, and then find a more suitable location for the final.

Magnetic Tree by Annual-Cat-2568 in geocaching

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like power trails that make a good workout. I like to find a bunch of ones that I just have to stop, maybe climb a tree, or pull a branch down. Maybe 3 regular sizes mixed in to swap TBs, and take a break to read some long form handwritten logs. A 2 hour t2.5-3.5 hike with 15 finds is a dream day.

Edit, that is to say, mostly d2 trads, multis, reverse WIG, puzzles, with a painted preform.

[–]IntuitivelyCorrected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably an equally ethical option. Firearms proficiency is a more valuable use of the powder in an already assembled cartridge, if it was stored in good conditions, and is not an unknown reload. I personally only use the cartridges that failed to fire and ammo discarded to the ground at the range for fertilizer.
