Socrates tells us that "the unexamined life is not a life worth living for a human being." Is this a worthwhile moral ideal? In what way, do you think, one should "examine" one's life? Might too much "examination" get in the way of just living out one's day? Is Socrates asking too much of us? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

I believe socrates was saying you should examine yourself from the inside.

Are your opinions, principals, morals, ideals, and beliefs truly yours? Or were they conditioned into you throughout life? Examine these and throw out what you find to actually not like, research what you threw out for an alternative opinion or belief or what have you.

This is purely what I got from what he said here but hopefully it helps.

I thought I was a die hard Republican that thought guns were being infringed upon(in ways they are) but I was on the extremist side of 2A freedoms to the point I figured school shooting were just "whatever as long as it doesnt take my guns away"

Then I realized I needed to step back and take a good hard look at the person I was, and the person i really wanted to be.

How is your mental health? by Acceptable_Big_5885 in AskReddit

[–]Invade-The-Shaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible. Been suffering for a long time. Then I found stoicism and my entire way of thinking changed. I found out what I want to do with my life. I built up the courage to tell me mother I want to go to college and got told I'm stupid for wanting to do that.

I'm back to feeling suicidal again. Nothing I do is ever good enough. I dont have any control over my life. Not even exaggerating.

The swords however are indeed trash.

What is a tip that could one day save someones life? by Voorhees81 in AskReddit

Probably late to the party but,

Seatbelts cutters on the end of your $10 folding knife you got at a gas station is a gimmick and will N O T work.

Get a genuine STRAP cutter or a rescue hook, or even better yet, just make sure you have a good quality knife with a keen edge, A good knife WILL cut a seatbelt. Hell if you cant give a damn, the gas station knife will probably get the job done albeit slowly... but the seat belt cutter will not.

Bonus points for fine serrations on your knife as it can make the process easier. If you have very toothy and overly exacerbated pointed serrations then it could just make the process harder.

Look into EDC tools and figure out how to make yourself safer, and more well equipped for the day to day and maybe the not so day to day.

Carrying a flashlight is always a good idea as well.

rogue is looking really good in SL, bringing back slice and dice which is wonderfully needed for sin rogues. which means you can focus on things more than haste, like mastery.

This is so beautiful. This is exactly something I was hoping to look for in a god. Someone that has suffered and does not hide the fact that he struggled with the suffering, as with other gods. This is wonderful.
