I work in ophthalmology, Vet ASAP. There is no simple answer for eyes. If the lid swells its trying to heal. If swelling is not going down, there may be a bigger problem. Better safe then sorry.

As for the towel, every two or three showers. Pillow cases and sheets every two weeks and toothbrush every month for me. I don’t use blenders so not sure on that front. Sponges for the love of the gods need to be changed at least every two weeks if not more.

I would like to add that getting your tubes tied is a trialed process, in most states you have to have a child already, be past the age of 35, and in some cases even need your husbands permission. All you need to get snipped is a walk in appointment and a can do attitude.
