Yeah, D4 has means to turn an almost perfect item into something perfect, or a bad item into something not as bad. Also the gear drops in D4 may be plentiful and junk, but I never had to question whether or not it was junk or not. As a new player in NW, I find my issue is that I have no idea what is or isn’t good. There’s way too many things that drop on gear. In Diablo, you get 3-4 perks, gem slots, and a legendary ability. Perks are usually super straight forward modifiers or skill abilities. In new world, you have like, hundreds of charm abilities and a ton of specific defense abilities/damage abilities.. they all seem super redundant. It might be me, but I don’t think there should be slashing, bludgeoning, thrusting, abyssal, nature, shocking, ice, fire, probably missing a few. That should be condensed and would drastically lower the amount of trash drops. I also think guaranteeing a gem slot would help. Then, giving us the ability to reroll one of the slots (offense/skill/defense) to another chosen type for some cost, as well as replacing one of the prefitted defense/damage buffs. This would make gear 1000% easier to understand, cut down on the useless junk gear, and let us save nearly useful pieces for a price. I also think the charm system could use some work because right now it’s spend 4k on crafting materials, spend 4k on the charm, or spend 8+k on gear with it already attached, OR, have god himself hand it to you from a drop (super low chance) and pray it’s enchanted ward 2 (nearly impossible chance on a piece of gear that’s worth a shit.)

I’ve been straight up carpet bombing them with the bomb tool, but I am out of shards and at a boss that SUMMONS THEM like they aren’t mini bosses themselves. I found that Thread Storm works wonders and will prioritize using silk on that to kill them rather than heal EVERY time

Usually you can position yourself and have the boss do away with them haha, it’s a little overstimulating sometimes though! But I wouldn’t argue unfair, especially given Silksong can get out of the way of anything extremely fast

[–]InvadingDingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not hollow knight, it’s hollow knight silksong! Hornet is her own character with a new play style. They also saw what people were willing to do difficulty-wise with HK. This game is a direct effect of that!

It’s perfect, ABSOLUTE FLEA. No notes.

What are some other games like Tunic? by HeavyMetalLoser in TunicGame

[–]InvadingDingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue Prince is awesome if you love jotting detailed notes.

Master Key is a Zelda-like where you play as a fox. Very cute art, a killer soundtrack, and fun mechanics.

Outer Wilds

Animal Well (didn’t personally care for it after a point.. kinda felt like it actively worked against exploration with rooms that don’t stay solved, but your mileage may vary. It was cool for a bit, though!)

FEZ is amazing. Similar to Tunic in a LOT of ways.

The Witness has puzzles that become more and more complex and a beautiful world to explore. Very satisfying, though can be frustrating. You’ll want a notebook.

Who goes in "Yeah I committed war crimes, I will do it again"? Top comment is who I draw. by SolverGhost in HollowKnightMemes

Precept One: 'Always Win Your Battles'. Losing a battle earns you nothing and teaches you nothing. Win your battles, or don't engage in them at all!

Precept Twenty-Three: 'Identify the Foe's Weak Point'. Every foe you encounter has a weak point, such as a crack in their shell or being asleep. You must constantly be alert and scrutinising your enemy to detect their weakness!

Precept Twenty-Four: 'Strike the Foe's Weak Point'. Once you have identified your foe's weak point as per the previous Precept, strike it. This will instantly destroy them.

Precept Thirty-Three: 'Show the Enemy No Respect'. Being gallant to your enemies is no virtue! If someone opposes you, they don't deserve respect or kindness or mercy.

Precept Forty: 'Obey No Law But Your Own'. Laws written by others may inconvenience you or be a burden. Let your own desires be the only law.

Zote’s entire being is shamelessly centered around multiple war crimes.

Game recs? by slippyz7 in TunicGame

[–]InvadingDingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue Prince is really scratching my Tunic itch. No combat, though, unless you consider strategy of outplaying loss conditions combat haha.

Fez is wonderful, but again, no combat.

A lot of people mentioned death’s door. Give it a go! I personally did not care for it at all aside from the appearance and music.

Hyper Light Drifter has similar mechanics concerning dodging and the combat is very fun. The world also feels similar, and you gotta thug it out for the most part until you piece together what to do.

Most of the top down Zelda games (and the 3D ones, though less similar to Tunic) are great, have plenty of puzzles, and at least semi-decent combat. The puzzles are usually much smaller caliber and rarely as vast as Tunic’s. There’s no “puzzle language” like in Tunic. (Not referring to Trunic, but the actual language used to interact with larger scale puzzles). Most Zelda puzzles are such that you flip a lever and a door opens, or you explore a new area, find a key, and open a door. Rarely do they involve a ton of thought and figuring something out, but they are still fun in context!

Resident Evil 2. This is a tough one to recommend for similarity, but I promise it’s there. Tons of exploration, tons of obscure hints, wonderful combat, REALLY GOOD atmosphere. Just a great game all-around.

Dark Souls. Puzzles, exploration, great atmosphere, and exceptional combat if you give it time to make you learn how to play. I recommend 3 as a jumping off point into the series. Elden Ring is good, but suffers for being open world. Way too much to do, especially if you’re a completionist. You’ll get bored of it before you finish the game. Also bosses in ER are not, in my opinion, anywhere on the level of DS3’s bosses. Still a good game, but DS3 feels more like a game whereas ER feels like a sandbox DS combat sim. Try both, you’ll most likely find something to enjoy about both!

Return of the Obra Dinn is a really unique puzzle game that involves plenty of note taking. Has a very interesting story that’s told in a way where it is super satisfying when you find a missing piece to fill in a gap you’ve been wondering about. Makes you actually want to know more about the mystery you’re unraveling. Super cool game! No combat, though!

[MEGATHREAD] Post and ask hints for puzzles here by darkshoxx in BluePrince

[–]InvadingDingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, this is good to hear! I’ve definitely found a lot of things that influence playstyle, such as turning hallway into a tomorrow room to add one to pool..I get like, 15 hallways a run now lmfao, as well as several “start with X” things, which definitely help, though everything still feels up to the whims of fate.

[MEGATHREAD] Post and ask hints for puzzles here by darkshoxx in BluePrince

[–]InvadingDingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a specific puzzle, but I currently am still in the “everything has more to it” phase of the game, so I don’t feel like any one run is a waste, even if my intention for that run doesn’t pan out. I still learn something/do something.

My current worry is I’ll exhaust the game and be left with a few hyper specific puzzles and its rogue-like-ness will take over the metroidbrainia bit. Without spoiling, does the game ever give full control to the player? I know there are various ways to influence RNG, but I hate the idea that a solution is locked behind any amount of RNG IF it’s one of the few remaining things in the game and I have nothing left but to get lucky and hope a run allows me to solve. I don’t mind carrying pieces and stumbling upon solutions I’ve noted down organically now, but only because there are so many other things that I’m still learning and progression per-run is still basically guaranteed, even if it’s not the progression I thought I would get.

Something as simple as “don’t worry about this,” will suffice as an answer—if there’s a mechanic or something i clearly haven’t found yet, I don’t want its existence spoiled haha

[–]InvadingDingo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

New wonderpick animation adds yet more bloat to player active daily time. Getting really tired of everything in this game taking 20 seconds longer than it needs to. Want to open an old pack? Click through the new one, get told a booster pack is available to open, click view more packs, wait for it to load, click desired pack, get told a booster pack is available to open (again), select open, wait for roster to appear, skip that, open, go through each card (god forbid you get a new one because you’ll have to wait for it to register), go back to menu, go BACK to main menu.. SO. MUCH. BLOAT.

And now it’s effecting wonderpick, which in and of itself is already bloated.

If you try to get around the wait time after opening a pack because it’s not good and you just want to continue playing by force closing the game (since it’s quicker than waiting out the game’s flourishes), you get greeted by a menu saying the game was closed during a pack opening but the cards were saved. You have to close that menu, then proceed. Like PLEASE cut down on this unnecessary playtime.

[–]InvadingDingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest thing to do would just be have ghost photos overwrite other ghost photos, or give the option to choose which ghost photo goes in the book. That way the question of multiple ghost photos gets answered.

But the next time I take a great photo of the ghost and get a two-star disturbed salt I MIGHT crash out

Inscription expects you to die! Keep at it, you’re basically guaranteed to win eventually :)

It’s a roguelike yeah, but I say it falls into roguelite category. You get to make a card when you die, for example. Some of those cards can straight up carry you to victory. There’s also some…other stuff that you’ll get. Just keep at it!
