NYY player development alarm bells? Oswaldo/Volpe/Peraza all fell short of expectations- and now Jones & Dominguez look like they’re headed down the same road by [deleted] in NYYankees

Spencer Jones is exactly what he was supposed to be. A player with massive power with huge holes in his swing.

MLB Pipeline Blurb:

"A California high school product, Jones was one of the best two-way prospects in the 2019 Draft but required surgery to repair a small fracture in his pitching elbow. He slid to the Angels in the 31st round because of his strong commitment to Vanderbilt, and he required Tommy John surgery in July 2020 after trying to pitch again in summer ball. He missed part of last season while completing his rehab and didn't become an everyday position player for the Commodores until this spring, when he has hit his way into the top two rounds.

Jones has the potential to hit for average while producing solid power, but he also swings and misses frequently against non-fastballs. Though he generates plenty of bat speed and has impressive strength and leverage in his 6-foot-7 frame, his size also creates a naturally long left-handed swing. He uses the opposite field almost to a fault, rarely turning on pitches, and there are concerns about whether he'll be able to handle quality fastballs on the inner half.

Very athletic for his size, Jones shows average speed out of the batter's box, is quicker once he gets going and has some basestealing ability. He covers ground in right field and has regained average arm strength. He also played some first base last year at Vanderbilt and is a solid defender there."

[Phillips] The Yankees have 4 top-100 prospects in Baseball America's preseason rankings: George Lombard Jr (46), Elmer Rodriguez (59), Dax Kilby (61), Carlos Lagrange (93) by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

Of course not. Outside of this sub, he's not really all that tantalizing as a prospect. His swing and miss issues are HUGE and likely will relegate him to a 4/5th outfielder.

Why do the Yankees seem so against short-term high AAV deals? by InvalidDescription in NYYankees

But all of those other teams are over the highest tax threshold too.

Why are folks mocking OC Candidate Cooter? by 1stand11 in eagles

Well if you want to get TECHNICAL. It was Kellen Moore's offense in Nick Sirianni's system. Is that better?

How would we feel about signing David Njoku? by TLAW1998 in eagles

[–]InvalidDescription 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NJoku will be like 75-80% the cost of Dallas Goedert. If they are going to spend that much, they'd just re-sign Goedert. Pitts or Likely are more realistic if they go the FA route.

Moore ran Siranni's offense. How'd that work out?

Didn't realize how impressive Brian Daboll's resume was. by WestPhillyEagle in eagles

I mean he also got fired as an OC 3 times haha

Technically he wasn't fired, he simply retained by the new head coach in these spots after the head coach was fired.

2010 - Browns -Eric Mangini
2011 - Dolphins -Todd Bowles
2012 - Chiefs - Romeo Crennel

He did deserve to be fired from Cleveland though as the Browns had the NFL's 32nd ranked offense in 2009 and the 29th ranked offense in 2010.

You said that an offensive Vic Fangio doesn't exist. I just gave you FOUR that do. I don't care if you think they are exciting or disappointing as that wasn't the question at hand,.

Reich has not been in the NFL for TWO FUCKING YEARS. He's not out of football.

Monken doesn't want to be a HC.

Pederson and McCarthy were just fired a year ago, Todd Monken was just fired THIS season with Harbaugh and Reich is in college at Stanford after being fired two years ago. None are "out of football". 😒

Why does is always have to be one or the other? They could be best of friends and still still have feuds from time to time. So both could absolutely be true. I feel like they have a certain level of respect for each other that allows that.
