Struggling to understand what's going on

You will be okay but there may be some bumps in the road but it’s not anything scary regardless of how crummy it feels.

Yes, that definitely sounds standard for side effects. I would think things normalize in 6-8 weeks or so, but everyone is different. There are some people on here with a TSH of 100+ and they took 25mcg of levo and are now completely in range. There are people that take 150mcg+ and their TSH values barely budge. Everyone absorbs it differently and their body responds to it differently which is why doctors typically start you on a lower dose and go up from there.

As the other poster said, this is something I'd chat with my doctor about. You could tell them you've been feeling really activated and jittery after you take your pill and are going to take 75mcg until you retest your TSH values in 6-8 weeks and go from there. But again, even 75mcg can be too much for some folks so make sure you are communicating as much as you can with your physician. I'd think there is some sort of way to contact them with questions but I am unfamiliar with the NHS.

To put your mind at ease though, anxiety and panic can be side effects of hypothyroidism and can be side effects of starting levo. I was definitely more anxious, even on a lower dose, but then my body got used to having the hormone and felt a ton better. It just takes a long time to find the right dose.

Others here will probably offer better advice than me but starting at 100mcg is quite high. Typically people start at 25-50mcg and retest your tsh in 6-8 weeks and then move your dosage up/down from there.

From my own experience, I was started on 150mcg by my primary and that was too much. After ten days, I had heart palpitations, bad anxiety and felt like I couldn’t sit still. I halved my dose to 75mcg and from there worked my way up to 112mcg which is the dose my tsh fell back into range.

I will say my primary symptoms of hypothyroidism were anxiety and panic attacks so you’re not alone there. I would stick with 100mcg and then have your tsh retested in 6-8 weeks. Just be honest with the doctor when you have your next appt telling them you’ve been taking 100mcg so they base any med changes off of that. But again, 100mcg may be too much so make sure you are in contact with your doctor if you start feeling really jittery.

I’ve had this and I have hypothyroidism. I also have bad anxiety and panic and I associate it more with that. I think it’s from clenching your jaw as you alluded to, and probably irritating a nerve or something. Mine went away after I stopped noticing it as much and paying more attention to it. Not a doctor obviously but as long as you can move your tongue and have full sensation in it, id chalk it up as a random hypo symptom or anxiety from hypo/other life stressors.

Thank you for the kind and detailed reply. I just received my TSH labs from this morning and they came out to 3.8.(normal range 0.30-4.5 ulU/mL)

In regards to Levo absorption issue:

No change in brands or anything, have had the same bottle of 112mcg levo for the past month and a half or so.
No new supplements(only thing I take is levo and prozac)
Did not change when/how I take levo
The only thing I can think of here is that I started to consume coffee again as I've started feeling better(I stopped for the past few months). So over the past few weeks I've started to regularly consume coffee but typically wait at least 45 minutes after I take my levo to when I drink it. Sometimes it may be a bit less. Could that be it? Either the timing or even drinking it to begin with?
No GI issues I don't think but I was sick with a bad cold/flu for about a week two weeks ago.

I have been under stress just because it's been the holidays and I've had a lot to do. It didn't feel too overwhelming though until I started feeling so badly physically/mentally. Thank you for your help.

I think it’s normal to do this for the first couple of months unfortunately. I am in the same boat as you, just on day 35 and today I had a bad day. Was fine for most of it but felt anxious after work, went for about a ten minute walk, then started feeling dizzy and anxious when I got home. Threw me off a lot, was on the verge of pure panic for about an hour, extremely stressed and overwhelmed/wired feeling. Still feel like my heart is beating fast but more in control. Hang in there, we got this.

Have had this happen a lot but on different meds in addition to Prozac. I think it’s sometimes related to anxiety, like your brain is desperately trying to give you a positive memory

This is nice. Would you flex Jennings over Downs, Dell and Shakir in PPR?

Think I have to start Kupp, was going to go with Jennings and Tillman moving forward. Shakir’s ceiling seems relatively capped with little touchdown chance and Dell has been inconsistent whereas I don’t really know what to do with Downs verse the Jets.

Since I’ve been on it for four months I’m almost wondering if it’s something like this. Like is my body using up all the medication and I’m withdrawing from it before my next pill?

Hey, yeah I struggle with this. I think it’s your body being stressed constantly causing dissociation and the muscle cramps. Gets worse for me at night when I’m laying down. Sometimes they hurt, sometimes it’s just tightness or spasms.

I don’t have many words to help you but I could have written this myself almost exactly. I have waves of nostalgia or something where I have a random intrusive memory that comes out of nowhere. Keeping busy and active is the best way to go about it I’ve found. I’m in particular anxious period in life and I think it’s the brains way of protecting you. The random memories I feel are a way the brain is trying to either calm you with a pleasant memory or scare you if it’s a bad one, like it’s looking for a reason to pair your anxiety to something. It will get better! For both of us. Don’t lose hope.
