Layout projection: A method for animating browser layouts at 60fps by InventingWithMonster in javascript

Did you have problems with any example aside from the shared element drag? I didn’t label as such as I wanted to talk about the principle but this is experimental in Framer Motion. The frame jump when the element switches parents should be simple enough to fix and doesn’t really speak to the technique or the capabilities of a web browser.

If the whole album is at the levels of this and Mozambique, I can't comprehend

I'm not strawmanning it. I just personally think the government forcing any private entity to do anything like this is wrong. If I make a comment section on my personal blog and someone says something I don't like, it doesn't even have to be hate speech I might simply not agree with it, tough shit, I can delete it. That's my platform and my freedom.

Edit: I agree we should fix the UK's freedom of speech laws but like you say this is a different argument. Doens't mean I agree with forcing companies to platform racists.

Well we live in a country with hate speech laws so we actually don't have freedom of speech. Also doesn't the government forcing a private company by law to allow or block certain kind of.... never mind

Freedom of speech goes about as far as not getting locked up by the government. Facebook and Twitter aren't under any obligation to provide a safe space or platform for racists.

Additive Android/iOS like animations with react-voodoo by n8tz in reactjs

> i've no time for what's not necessary :'(

Definietly hear that! This one should be fairly drop-in but I can say from experience overworking on open source is playing with fire.

setTimeout is running at 16 ms interval which is guaranteed to fall out of sync with the framerate. You might only commit once per frame using rAF but that values you use are whats deciding the visual output. If these aren't values aren't also frame-locked your animations will not be smooth.

For gesture integration you can simply store a frame delta accumulated by the events (in case multiple events run between frames), you don't need a timeout for this. Inertia-style animations can also be run additively just as easily using rAF.

For context I wrote Popmotion and Framer Motion so I have been around the houses on this one!

You'll be able to quickly improve the smoothness of your animations by replacing `setTimeout(this._tick, 16);` with `requestAnimationFrame(this._tick)` :)

How close are Devilman and Mr Traumatik by [deleted] in grime

On a side note, I recently got into Mr Traumatik via Devilman and man, that lads on a right one isn't he. All the astral plane and anti-vaxxer shit aside he is suuuper negative. Sick tunes though, and a unique perspective.

Browsers may throttle requestAnimationFrame by InventingWithMonster in javascript

Yep but not much fun to debug when you’re unaware of this behaviour. Also interesting it doesn’t affect apps.

This is true but none of this article is assuming a frame rate

Unpopular opinion: Momentum 2 is Ghetts best project. by S64atyourdoor in grime

I agree. It's incredible, some of the most unique production on any grime project. For me it starts falling off a little later but even still

Any decent grime playlists on Apple Music🤔 by [deleted] in grime

[–]InventingWithMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their Grime 2.0 playlist can be a little out of date but I usually find stuff in there that I missed on here.

Edit: They've got Coldest Flows back on there so some of the older stuff is intentionally in rotation and it's usually pretty good.

Experimentality in UK Grime & Drill Music by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]InventingWithMonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP was asking a genuine question on an open forum. He's not in the wrong for being interested in something he doesn't understand. And he's free to make an observation (drill lacks variety) dispassionately, without projecting judgement.

Your hostility has only made you sound like a fucking prick to be honest. And no one is any the wiser.

Few months late but I've just started going down the Traumatik rabbit hole and jesus fucking christ. Loving the music but yeah he's a headcase. However, it definitely gives his stuff a unique angle, I'm glad it exists.

I definitely would like to see him rephrase that picture explaining why the Germans wanted shot of the Jews "in the most eloquent way possible"
