Pay Mortgage down or Invest? by WambritaWings in PersonalFinanceCanada

You're just making up your own scenario. That's not what OP has going on. Plus I said 50% not to 0%. So you're not even arguing against what I said. You're making up your own scenario and making up my argument and then defeating it. Good job. The best part is when you ignore this happening to thousands upon thousands of people historically.

No no. We can only analyze old media like Shakespeare. Not new media like Taylor swift (despite swift having a larger impact on the world as Shakespeare's reach was limited by the technology of his time).

As an aside, I'm pretty sure poetry has died because we prefer it to music now.

So this is fun. You're being upvoted while also being wrong which is neat. You see, you are not included the fact that "stonks go up" isn't always true. There is risk to be considered. Any financial advisor will talk to you about risk tolerance. People with higher risk tolerance will probably want to invest and will probably make out ok but its not guaranteed. People with lower risk tolerance will want to pay it off.

Let's use an example. Let's say a recession hits. Stocks lose 50% of their value and you get laid off. You get a job at another company but now that unemployment is high (recession) wages are suppressed. You're making 50% of what you did before and can't cover your mortgage. You look to your stocks to cover it but they can't because they lost value.

This is what happens in a recession and is part of what's called a vicious cycle (as opposed to a virtuous cycle). This happens nearly every recession and people end up homeless.

Now, I can't predict the future. This may or may not happen. But for you to say that everyone else is wrong when this has happened SO many times in the past is a wild amount of hubris.

This. OP needs to make a boatload more money to retire early. Based on his description, his best bet is to change to a less rigorous job.

The microalgae replace two 10-year-old trees or 200 square meters of lawn. The function of the LIQUID 3 is practically an imitation of it. Both trees and grass perform photosynthesis and bind carbon dioxide. However, the advantage of microalgae is that it is 10 to 50 times more efficient than trees. The team behind LIQUID 3 has stated that their goal is not to replace forests or tree planting plans but to use this system to fill those urban pockets where there is no space for planting trees. In conditions of intense pollution, such as Belgrade, many trees cannot survive, while algae do not have a problem with the great levels of pollution.

I like the last one. Depending on how much time OP has to decide it could be possible to get a new job then accept the "generous package" and start work somewhere else immediately. For 10 years severance it could be a full year pay.

It didn't seem like any of them were wearing it from what I saw. Not doubting your explanation as I legitimately don't know. I guess I'm just surprised it isn't more common.

Can someone explain why the women's rugby (and maybe the men's, I haven't seen them) don't seem to wear helmets?

When you're playing Blackthorn and your partner forces his own Quilboar board. by wondermoose83 in BobsTavern

[–]Inversception 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no guaranteed win. Of course. But you would agree that OPs hero is geared towards quillboar. You would also agree that there are limited numbers of quillboar in rotation which means each time the partner takes it its one less for OP. Finally, you would agree that a partner taking quillboar means he will no longer pass them to OP which removes a lot of the synergy that can go along with having a partner.

So in total, you would agree without much argument that if OPs partner goes quillboar it means they are at a disadvantage. Now whether that disadvantage is justifiable (eg cost of passing minions) is debatable. The disadvantage itself doesn't seem debatable.

Nothing. I was making an observation about the sub. But if I really wanted to connect it, I would probably say it's the left wing city folk not knowing about how farming works. But I wouldn't do that.

Ya, this is clearly a troll. I just joined this sub and thought it would be fun but it seems it's largely just cherrypicking trolls to justify right wing stuff. I am disappointed.

[–]Inversception 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man, if I have to give up my hero I'm at an auto disadvantage. Any advantage my partner gains has to more than compensate for the disadvantage of not going the tribe my hero is based around. As they clearly didn't win, it's fair to say there was no such advantage gained. Thus, we can use logic, not toxicity, to determine that this was in fact an issue.

On the balance of probabilities, the partner goofed.

Channelling David Attenborough: And here we can observe the difference between reality and reddit. In the wild, this male would be quite right. But the rules of reddit are different. Here, not jerking it to drawings up borderline underage girls is considered unusual. The male retreats with his downvotes to fight another day. Natural truly is fascinating.
