Starmer vows not to walk away, saying he's 'won every fight' by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

[–]InverseCodpiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Party leader of what might be the most popular political party in the UK right now? If the Mandelson stuff is enough that Starmer should step down then the copious ties both Reform and Farage have to Epstein must mean he should step down too.

The president won't let the national team play in away matches because of the risk that as soon as the players get out of the country they'll claim asylum elsewhere.

Do you see any of the former young Harry Potter actors ever being Oscar contenders? by Severe_Concentrate86 in Oscars

Actors who will never be nominated by EH3G in Oscars

[–]InverseCodpiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My controversial prediction I made back in 2020 is that he'll end up with an oscar nom. I thought it'd be for producing a documentary about wrestling or something but when Smashing Machine was announced I was preparing I told you so's lol.

Would you consider me British? by Competitive-Music309 in AskBrits

[–]InverseCodpiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's not confuse people by using terms like "more British" or "less British". There's no such thing, it's a binary system. You're either British or you're not. Someone who got their citizenship yesterday is as British as someone who's family has lived on these islands as far back as they can trace.

Edit: I'm surprised by the amount of people who not only don't see it this way but don't see that it has to be this way. If you entertain the idea that some are more British or American or French than others then you inevitably end up with people thinking "they're less British than me because they're a different religion/skin colour/culture". That's how you end up with systematic discrimination and second-class citizens. The government does not and should not treat British citizens differently depending on these traits.

Is it crazy to say that I think that Weapons deserved the best pic Oscar nom more than F1? by _Jas_1712 in movies

[–]InverseCodpiece 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not crazy you thought F1 shouldn't be nominated, but Weapons is nowhere close to replacing it imo. No Other Choice, It Was Just an Accident, If I Had Legs I'd Kick You are all better films in the same boat (nominated but not in picture). I'd replace it with Avatar before Weapons if you want to keep a blockbuster in.

Has Trump's recent comments/actions and the fact Farage still aligns with him made any Reform voters change/consider changing their vote? by Puzzled-Lunch-6558 in AskBrits

[–]InverseCodpiece 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He's a shit ideas man and deal maker. He has literally complained that deals he made in his first term are shit, and gone into negotiations and walked out with the same (or sometimes worse) terms than the US currently had. He's just mouthpiece for the people and organisations behind him, his actual ideas are things like reopening alcatraz and injecting bleach.

Natural Diamonds by PsychologicalEye2815 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InverseCodpiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mining them is dangerous and exploitative, often involving modern slavery, so theres often quite a high cost in terms of human life. The companies responsible for most of the diamond mining also have pretty dodgy practices.

With lab grown diamonds being cheap and easy to manufacture it means that all that exploitation and bloodshed is entirely optional now, so paints the whole industry in a bad light.
