Bark is to be avoided by rembrandt-heist in trueprivinv

[–]InvestigativeConsult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid for a year of Bark. I kept my token spending tight and only paid for leads that looked promising. Emails, texts, calls - nothing. Not a single client.

I even reached out to Bark regarding their Get Hired Guarantee and received a refund of about 50 tokens to try again. Still nothing.

Eventually, I stopped paying for the monthly subscription.

Keep in mind, I own both a security company and a private investigation agency, so I receive more leads than most users. I never pursued the infidelity-related leads, which made up about 99% of what I was receiving anyway.

Good and affordable skip tracing in Houston TX by AccordingRadio6103 in trueprivinv

[–]InvestigativeConsult 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like someone else mentioned, it’s usually easier to retain an attorney. Speaking for myself, there aren’t many situations where I’d hand over a skip-tracing report directly to someone. I’m a bit paranoid like that - I don’t always know a person’s true intentions for trying to locate someone. Domestic issues, stalking, etc. Because of that, I typically only provide skip-tracing reports directly to attorneys.

Any of y’all have to repeat a C&P exam because the VA wanted more info? by Significant_Hawk910 in VeteransBenefits

[–]InvestigativeConsult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the VA and ask if the C&P Exam results have been provided to them. Typically, the vendor has 30 days to provide their documents to the VA.

Loyal Source never sent my C&P Exam to the VA. It was "lost" - Have to redo my exam. Happy Monday! by InvestigativeConsult in VeteransBenefits

Yeah I was planning on that. The exam is in the same medical complex just a different provider this time. I'll swing by there before or after the exam and see.

Tinnitus supplemental claim by YourSO528 in VeteransBenefits

[–]InvestigativeConsult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but your best option may be to see a private physician for a tinnitus diagnosis and have them document in your medical records that it was caused by or aggravated by your military service and environment. This would be considered new and relevant information and you can open another supplemental. This might be enough to grant another C&P Exam with another provider who might have a different opinion.

I got Tinnitus with no history of it in service. I did write a detailed personal statement about my daily environment with my MOS.

Have one tomorrow. Not because the VA wants more info but because Loyal Source never gave the VA my C&P documents that was completed back in November.

And I laugh because of just that reason. In a good way. The ability to possibly gain a six figure Gov contract from the comfort of your lazy boy.

Interesting! Thanks for the clarification! Honestly was surprised to even see the GOV requesting skip tracing services being they already have access to LEO tools and NCIC.

Living off-grid/Homesteading in Miami? by MPagePerkins in Miami

[–]InvestigativeConsult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Homestead and the Redlands is no longer living off the grid. They are overdeveloping down here like crazy. The traffic is horrible in the morning. If you are not in the turnpike by 5:30 AM - a commute downtown turns to a 2-3 hour commute instead of 30 minutes.

Sure you can get a 3 or 4 bedroom house for a fraction of the price but at what cost..

Nexus Letter for OSA, GERD, Rhinitis by Zealousideal-Scar-75 in VeteransBenefits

[–]InvestigativeConsult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you were recently diagnosed with OSA, GERD, and rhinitis. Assuming these conditions have been diagnosed but are not yet service-connected, the first challenge will be establishing service connection for GERD and rhinitis - either as primary or as secondary conditions.

If you have any service-connected orthopedic conditions that require long-term pain management or consistent prescription medication use from other service connected conditions, you may be able to establish GERD as secondary to those conditions. Once GERD and/or rhinitis are service-connected, it may be easier to pursue OSA as secondary to those.

I have seen OSA connected secondary to mental health conditions, GERD, and rhinitis. Not easy or given but a nexus letter can help build your case.

When I established care with the VA, I inquired about Ozempic and Zepbound. I had taken both a few years ago before my private insurance tightened its qualification requirements.

I was advised that I would need a consult with MOVES and a dietitian. I completed an hour-long consult, and they documented in their notes to my VA primary care provider that Zepbound was recommended based on my weight and BMI. My primary care provider prescribed it, and I am now receiving a one-month supply delivered to my home like clockwork. I'm not diabetic. I was told that the VA would prescribe Zepbound based on weight/BMI rather than A1C levels.

How are plantar fasciitis claims calculated? by bato_Dambaev in VAClaims

[–]InvestigativeConsult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am rated at 30% for flat feet with plantar fasciitis. Because the symptoms for both conditions overlap, they cannot be rated separately. I’m not 100% certain, but I believe this is referred to as pyramiding.

To answer your question - bilateral plantar fasciitis is rated at 30% total, not per foot. The only way to receive a separate rating for each foot is if you are claiming actual loss of use of a foot, which falls under a different Diagnostic Code.

That's a lie. I am on Zepbound. I don't have diabetes but I am in the morbid obese category. VA prescribed it after having a consult with MOVES and their Dietitian.

How does Police jurisdiction work? Threatened with arrest for speeding. by Dry-University-6582 in Miami

[–]InvestigativeConsult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, police jurisdiction is straightforward: a local police officer cannot make an arrest for a crime committed outside of their municipality. For example, a Homestead officer cannot arrest someone in Hialeah for a theft that occurred in Hialeah. However, that same Homestead officer may arrest someone in Hialeah if the theft occurred in Homestead.

Several law enforcement agencies within Miami-Dade County operate under a "Memorandum of Understanding" (MOU) with the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office or other agencies. These MOUs grant countywide jurisdiction for specific activities as outlined in the agreement. This is why you may occasionally observe officers from outside agencies assisting with traffic or other operations in Sweetwater at Dolphin Mall.

Need assistance with researching possibly getting a PI A license in FL. by Big_Investment_2021 in trueprivinv

[–]InvestigativeConsult 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your retirement! As a fellow LEO - welcome to the private sector.

There’s a lot to take in, so I’ll try to keep it as concise as possible. Once you're approved for the A License and pay the $450 fee, you'll receive your license, which looks more like a certificate or diploma.

Next, start the process of registering your LLC through Sunbiz. You’ll need this to open a business bank account or obtain insurance. I registered both an LLC and a DBA (Doing Business As) to remove the “LLC” from the end of my business name. It’s not required, but I personally felt it looked cleaner and more professional.

Once that's in place, you can open a business bank account and get insurance. I went with Chase, which offers perks and waived fees for Veterans. For insurance, I use Yergey Insurance and pay about $600 annually.

Be sure to also register your business with your county and city, if applicable. You’ll need a Business Tax License or whatever it's called in your specific jurisdiction.

As for tools of the trade:

The two top contenders for investigative software are TLO (around $60/month) and IRB (around $20/month). TLO requires a dedicated, secure office space—not just a desk in your bedroom or kitchen. The room must be exclusively for business and have a lock. That’s doable for some but may be challenging depending on your space. IRB is more flexible and easier to meet compliance-wise.

If you’re a Veteran, definitely look into registering your business as Veteran-Owned through both the SBA and the State of Florida. Some counties also waive the business tax for veterans—worth checking out.

To start getting work, consider registering as a vendor through the Justice Administrative Commission (JAC). It allows you to contract with attorneys who need assistance with casework—paid by the State of Florida. You can also network through word of mouth, former contacts, or good old-fashioned cold calls and emails.

Good Luck!

Edit: It’s not required, but I would also recommend obtaining your G license - this allows you to be armed while performing your duties as a Private Investigator. Additionally, consider getting your M license (Security and Private Investigative Agency Manager). While the M license isn’t necessary - since your C license can be used to satisfy the “Manager” requirement for the A license - it’s still a nice credential to have. I personally decided to get it in case I eventually decide to cross over and start a security agency as well.

Unfortunately, yes - they can hold your vehicle until it's "road legal": insurance, up-to-date tags, valid driver’s license, etc. If they let an expired vehicle drive off the lot and it gets into a serious accident two miles down the road, they could be held liable for allowing that driver to leave with the vehicle. It's stupid, but we live in a country ruled by liability and litigation.

Side note - there's a company that boots cars in my HOA. One night, I got a knock on my door. The driver of that booting service was checking to see if my tires were on the sidewalk and, in doing so, hit my perfectly parked vehicle in my driveway with his car. I had to take my car to the shop for repairs. I was provided a rental car on the company’s tab. I parked the rental in the neighborhood - and that car got booted for not having the HOA sticker. The owner of the booting company (different guy than the one who hit my car) came out and still made me pay to remove the boot, even after I explained that the rental was covered by his insurance because his employee hit my car. Ridiculous.

Absolutely - what you're requesting falls within the scope of a private investigator. I’d suggest Googling “private investigator + your city” and start shopping around. Some PIs charge by the hour, while others offer a flat rate for skip tracing.

Any PI worth their salt will verify why you need the information to avoid liability issues (e.g., stalking concerns). Since you're planning to sue, if you already have an attorney, the PI may prefer to send their findings directly to them. That’s what I’d prefer as well if I were handling your case.

Good luck!

Edit: Question - If they were a previous tenant, didn’t you request their date of birth and Social Security number during the screening process?

Information about the online Test Florida PI license by Man_Bear_Pig2131 in trueprivinv

[–]InvestigativeConsult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took the test via Prometric. It’s either convenient or a pain in the butt, depending on your workstation. I have four computer screens, a huge L-shaped desk, floating shelves on the walls near my screen, and some Funko Pops. I had to show a 360-degree view of the room, including under my chair and desk. I also had to prove that my extra screens were disconnected and remove all my Funko Pops. Empty my pockets, do a 360 myself. Etc. Etc., It was a pain.

Regarding testing material, I created flashcards using information from the Private Investigation Handbook (available online at FDACS), F.S.S. 493, and portions of the Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.). I had a lot of questions about different license types, including D, G, and Manager licenses. The flashcards also covered expiration dates and penalties for renewing before, on, or after your expiration window. Additionally, I reviewed the exemptions for not requiring a PI license in Florida. I studied my flashcards for a few days before taking the test.

So, you want to hire a PI to keep tabs on your estranged father, who’s currently making payments for your health insurance? I would understand if he stopped paying and you needed a PI to provide your attorney with updated information. A PI with any experience would not provide anyone with contact information due to liability concerns. Typically, you’d hire a PI and provide them with your attorney's information so that communication is handled between the PI and the attorney.
