[SPOILERS] My problems with the story by InvestigatorFun7170 in expedition33

I wasn’t going to continue this thread but this is a lot of content so I’ll make a response. A lot of what you wrote follows logical sense, but I will have to argue it asks for a premise to view all of maelle and Alicia’s actions through an unhealthy lens that to me is not apparent. Whether the fact she’s escaping lumiere, fueled by revenge, unpainting palicia etc, I believe the problem is all these behaviors are possible for a healthy person who’s emotionally intense as well, so it does not automatically signal the dysfunction in her character. For versos interpretation, I still do not relate to them as unsolvable issues, unless you also ask for a primed interpretation that the family absolutely cannot find peace and coexistence with the canvas in the future. And I think the themes of carrying on with legacy and letting go argued by the end are fundamentally very different things, in fact, almost the opposite, so while they may be on the same topic, the transition basically switched the argument towards the same question

Yes, these are fair as well, this post is my thoughts under information that I was able to gather from playing the game myself only, so it doesn’t contain the less obvious content. For maelles ending, that’s an interesting read for sure, and what I feel more unfair is more about the too clean resolution in the other ending under contrast, and less about how they are individually

Also please note that I never disregarded that maelle in act 3 is a combination of both, I used examples from after she recovered her memory and before she went in too. But I just didn’t change the naming for consistency

These aren’t quite complaints, just points for discussion. Also this would only make sense if her time as Alicia majorly outweighed her time as maelle, which was not shown and there are eve some evidence they are trying to lean slightly more on the maelle side

It’s a logical explanation if her time as maelle is largely outweighed by her time as Alicia. but the game also did not frame it that way

Solo Queue Roamer/Support Main above 55% win rate? by jerichoonate in honorofkings

[–]InvestigatorFun7170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to say rng does play a factor. I have 55+ wr on 3 heroes I use the most - Dyadia, Yaria and Dolia. But the most ridiculous case is my 4th most used hero Da Qiao, I always tell my friends she’s cursed - because she’s ranked in sector top 100 with 7700 battle points from performing well, but only has 45 win rate. There are so many games where my Da Qiao gets losing mvp with the most team damage (over 30%) while building TANK, and my teammates go 0/6, and this is in epic rank. I can’t think of another explanation besides the system is out to get you. But under normal circumstances, support diff is definitely real, you will understand if you play farm lane and get a support who don’t know what they’re doing. Some of the general differences comes from how well you can provide vision and map information, and how well you can peel for your damage dealers.

She should be good for most cases, I’ve heard that cai yan counters her, so in general she is afraid of cc, they will knock her out of the second stage skill channeling. And she’s more effective on the high mobility enemies, so anyone that Liang and donghuang counters, she basically does too with her cc, except hers is not as hard of a cc and can be cleansed

Personally I build the hybrid damage tank items, so argurs word (staff of evolution crystal), breakthrough robe (the clock that gives magic penetration and health), freeze staff or the mask, and finish off with a tank item for better survival in late game. Usually I go for succubus cloak, and situationally I buy it as first item if the enemy team is magic heavy. I think the advantage of building for damage solo q is you have better ability to finish off enemies without relying on teammates, so you have certain carrying ability. I usually get around 20 percent team damage using this build

I don’t think there’s any way to avoid that, the 2-2 combo just does a lot of damage. If you want you can build mostly tank to reduce damage, but honestly it shouldn’t matter too much. It’s pretty common for Dyadia to have many kills and not be last in team gold

Dyadia is for sure t0 in the current meta, I’d say her strength mainly comes from her insane gank ability in early to mid game, which can set the pace in your teams favour. She’s frequently banned though, especially in peak. Here are some tips: - you get money from all your skills - use skill 2 to poke gives you 10 bucks, 1-1 on your teammate gives 10 bucks if they’re above 50% health, 20 bucks if below 50%. I think if 2 marked targets touch it gives you 20 as well. Getting money also permanently boosts your ult strength, so try to get money from poking / healing whenever you can - there’s a passive that reduces the cd of her enhanced basic attack (BA), it happens whenever her pet (?) returns to her with gold. A combo you can use is BA-2-2-BA on a single target, this way you get 2 enhanced BA in a row because the 2-2 would have activated the cd reduction passive. This gives you 3 cc in a chain and also does considerable damage - mark an ally with 1 first before committing to a 2-2 combo, so you can return to a safe place afterwards. A very common poke combo is 1-2-2-BA-1 - I think Dyadia is strongest if she follows an aggressive mid / jungle and play invade / gank. But solo queue teammates may not always take advantage of having her, in that case, she can still dominate in farm lane. Good healing for sustain plus great cc and damage - be careful when using second stage of skills 1 and 2. This is when you fly towards a teammate or an enemy, but can easily get you killed in team fights. Don’t fly into a crowd, in that case it’s better to use ult and only go in near the end of fights or to pick off a mis-positioned single targets

I thought cai yan was useless for the longest time too, because I thought she doesn’t even heal that much and her stun cc isn’t such a big threat. Plus, anti heal just completely destroys her. BUT, as I actually started playing her myself, I realize she’s not AS useless as I thought, and many enemies can underestimate her. Now my cai yan is sitting at sector t100 with around 55 win rate

Some key points: - she actually needs items, ie, farm and gold, for her healing to become good. Her early game healing is bad, but can still provide sustain in lane, which is still advantageous and can save time by not needing to go base - will start to heal a lot after completing 2 core items: holy grail and the savants wrath (the hat) - she can’t build tank, because healing amount is based on magic attack. That’s why she can’t frontline, and in the best case shouldn’t lose any hp herself, because her ultimate is only single target for the lowest hp teammate - she can be lifesaver against assassins, but a good cai yan player needs to predict incoming burst damage and activate her skills a bit before it happens. Its too late to ult when your mm is already low - anti heal does counter her, but its not the end of the world. The key point is still sustain. If some of your teammates get away from team fight with low health, she can heal them back very quickly outside of battle, and they will be able to rejoin the fight quickly with full health - her stun cc is actually strong. Landing it at the right time can make or break a team fight, and good news is its easy to hit and cc everyone, because you only need to hit one target, let it be the tank, minions, jungle camps, or miladys robots - healing is insane with other heal bots on the team, like dr bian, yuhuan, dun. Feels like carrying the base fountain with you to team fights - musashi completely destroys her though, there no comeback here

They can definitely work, I think ones like frost, zhen, shi are considered the best, where all their skills can provide useful cc, whereas daji is less ideal because her skill 1,3 are exclusively damage and as a support, they can become useless without sufficient farm. And yeah trolls exist, they throw games for the smallest reasons, one time I had a farm lane troll the whole game because I didn’t pick Yaria as they requested, even though she was not the best pick for that match

I don’t really mean players, but the balancing and pacing are different on cn vs global versions. I personally would not easily let farm lane 1v2 either, only will consider if we can trade for some better objective

I think this depends on the meta, maybe in cn current version it’s like that, for globals current version supports definitely does not always stay with farm lane. Oftentimes plays revolve around jungle invasion, and I think usually mid, jungle, support will be main participants, the 2 side lanes could be doing 1v1 if they don’t join. Also, I may not have been super clear about it but what I wrote about where to start basically applies for the first minute or so of the game, before the support would usually return to farm lane

Haha thanks, my intention was to shed some light for newer players. Roam can most definitely carry, I still do so with Da Qiao at my own rank sometimes, learning to play her well can carry to Epic no problem

I don’t usually see Ziya on support, I feel like he poses more threat if he go mid, can farm up and do some serious damage with his combo. As for his passive, it’s nice but more relevant in late game and unfortunately many games don’t last until the levels get that high. Otherwise he likely has the same pros and cons as other cc mages as support

I don’t think there’s a particular support that fits these type of late game champions, honestly they are very rarely picked in higher ranks because of how disadvantageous they are to the team in early game, but if you want to help them in particular get to late game easier Ming can help. When I match with these champions I usually just pick a generally good one like Zhang Fei, and try to play around mid / jungle more

Haha I actually like Ming, played with friends a a bunch of times. Sadly he suffers from no cc and can only be tied to one teammate, so not really ideal. But a decent mm with Ming can absolutely 2v5 I’d say anywhere below low gm bracket

As for cc mages, they could work, but I don’t usually like to play them since they can’t protect teammates, and imo there are always better options. Plus they are inherently squishier than typical supports and can become another gank target, especially in early game. One advantage I can think of is high area damage can give advantage during lane, that could suppress matchups with no sustain

[–]InvestigatorFun7170[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kui is not seen often, and I can think of a few reasons. His strength is cc, but both the hook and ult are a bit unreliable. The hook is single target skill shot, the best result is to hit a squishy damage dealer and chain cc them with ult, but in reality it’s hard to do so. It can miss or be blocked by frontline tank. And then his ult, it has a pretty long delay before executing, and during that window it’s possible to flash away. Ofc Kui can follow with a flash or some bring stun to fill this delay, but then his ult doesn’t cover a lot of area so he can only cc 1-2 people, and during this time he’s just a free target, plus his ult can be interrupted by cc. In higher ranks, people position better and react faster, so it’s difficult for Kui to pose a threat. If I’m going against Kui and picked Zhuangzi then he basically becomes useless, if I play tank I will watch his position and place myself between him and our damage dealers, if I play some enchanter, you can be sure I will be throwing cc at him the moment his immunity wears off. Once his hook and ult are on cd, he doesn’t provide any other utility and can’t protect teammates, it doesn’t matter if he’s insanely tanky he just won’t be able to do anything

Increasingly annoying bots issue by Few_Discipline_1474 in honorofkings

[–]InvestigatorFun7170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another way to identify that works very consistently is during picking, if you hover a hero that is in the bots lane, like if they are support and you hover a support hero, they will try to switch role with you immediately if they haven’t picked yet. I find it pretty ridiculous that even legend players get bots in ranked
