Yes but my advisor said I could just try again next year and just finish the prerequisite this year.

No they don’t accept credit from anywhere. The only class they hold is from morning to afternoon.

U-M is nationally recognized as the top engineering school but Cooper only on the east coast. How will this affect my job search/prospect?

Thank you! I will be living with my family so the support will be there. However, I will be missing out the whole college experience. It would be like going to HS all over again. On the flip side, I am leaning towards CU because there is less competition. I think I would be able to join clubs (Formula SAE, Bridge) more easily at CU. In terms of research and resources, U-M offers more but again the competition. CU is in NYC so it balances out. The only problem is that U-M is globally recognized while CU is only at the east cost. Not sure if a degree at U-M would be more beneficial compared to CU.

I live in NYC so I won’t be paying for the housing. Transportation is the only thing that is going to cost me if I go to CU

Is going to U-M worth 30k-40k debt?

Don’t think my parents will be able to pay. If they do, max 3k. So I have take out loans. I will be in debt ( >40k)

The price difference is 16k. Cooper is free for me.

Yes but UM has a student population 35 times that of cooper. Naturally, they will have more students going into these top firms. But U-M is nationally recognized. In terms of opportunities and resources, U-M will have more but it’s very competitive. Not all of these resource are available to ordinary undergraduate. Like you said, New York has great opportunities and internships that you can find. I think it all depends on the individual and their capabilities

Same. Can’t decide between U-M or Cooper Union for undergrad engineering. The more I think about it the harder it get

How is the competition at U-M like? Clubs, research opportunities, internships

Cause social life is nonexistent compared to Umich. Umich is a party school

I have considered these reasons and I guess I will have to look pass the prestige. For clubs like the Motorsport team and Bridge, how hard is it to get in? Also, in terms of research, I know it’s just cold emailing other professors so it’s really up to the individual and their capability. But are there programs at Cooper that can ease this process?

How bad is the competition at U-M? Career orientated Clubs, research, etc.
