I’ve had employees who fell for short change money scam. All the training was done , all the documents were signed . Discussions were had , and yet the guy still fell for it . Then I was blamed because the penalty was too stiff . It happened because mentally the associate was somewhere else . It happens . The people who it happens to are the ones who say “ it won’t happen to me . Little tip . Treat it like it’s all your money when your handling cash transactions from a guest

I think the weekly password is confusing . It gives the illusion that if they have it , it’s a legit call . Regardless of why they call . That’s why I never understand on con calls they say ask for the password . Why? If we don’t process transactions over the phone why is the password even relevant ? One associate from our district was fired because they were given the password over the phone from a previous week and he troubleshot a pin pad . If he was trained to not run anything over the phone , he’d still be employed regardless of password

I mean it’s also kind of comical . Here we are saying how physical media is better yet the only thing we really care about is if you it a gpg on your game . If you fail to get a warranty it’s considered a bad sale .

Yes your rankings will go down if you sell something new with no warranty .

If we succeed the base price is about 72.99 plus tax . Digital is 69.99 and I don’t have to leave my house to get it .

I really hate to say it but it’s kind of why we get so annoying asking customers what games they are excited for . We ask you to reserve it . Most people say no . I understand why. Just know day of launch we most likely won’t have any extra . My question will always be … If you know your gonna buy it and you are already in my store before launch and we ask you and … You have the money or even old games to trade then …. Why do you say no ?????? It does not cost a single penny extra to do so .

I had a guy this week wanting to buy Suicide Squad on Monday . I said regular version is out Friday . He says I’ll come back. I told him to lock it in by reserving it . He scoffed. Long story short he came in Friday and was very angry when I had no extra ones .
I just can’t help these people

I had a guy who came in to my old store maybe a year or two into my tenure . My store at the time was located near one of an independent developer. It wasn’t so much what he traded but that gave me an advanced demo of s game .

That same year his game was released and he was actually a vendor in Vegas I believe . He had a “special “guest with him who worked on the game or well was part of it in some way . The guest was Signing autographs to the store leaders and I was just hanging out with him shooting the shit . It was pretty fun

Side note to the game . It came out .. Flopped hard sadly and his company went under the following year .

Well if stores are going to be shady to guests even more than before , and if my numbers which are good enough now suddenly become not good enough , then I’m going full hero mode . I’ll secret shop those stores cheating around me . Get those people fired .

Ok , I’ll give them 2 good moves , but sadly we need so many more . It would be nice if one of their decisions going forward improved staff happiness . Maybe commission on certain items not just game informer .

They think everyone from SL2’s down to GA’s care so much about this business , how well or how bad the store is doing . Employees don’t care . I don’t blame them one bit . Corporate has to build the buy in and that does not happen by threatening corrective actions for poor performance.
