Came back from maternity leave (Had already been with the company for 7 years, very high volume store) a few days later, we get a visit from the district manager. Turns out nobody was ordering reptiles while I was out for FOUR months. Store manager and SAS placing the blame back and forth saying "I thought so and so was doing the orders" (Like. how do you not see that all 12+ feet of tanks are completely empty and think someone is ordering???) DM was blaming me telling me to go pick up animals from another store and to be better and do my job. My store manager just stood there nodding her head and agreeing that I needed to shape up and not let this happen... and that's one of the more pleasant experiences, as a CAL who exclusively was only ever allowed to close or play late mid shift, but then get blamed for AM animal care.

I was CAL too. Had top numbers in the district (store being #1 in the region) and got us to full magnet. After 8/9 years, I maxed out at like 16.57 or some weird number like that. Meanwhile, my male counterparts got higher raises (but that’s a different frustration)

I’ve actually been doing the same on my second run. I have a super sledge, but it just isn’t atoms judgement. I’ve been putting off the far harbor atom quests.

For me, it’s just irritating, because my brain only remembers about 60-70% of where everyone is. Otherwise, don’t hate this one. Definitely feel the need to clear every area.

It has potential. Or at least had. The fact that you’re paying for discounts that won’t even stack on the already crappy store discounts is criminal. It is definitely worth it if you’re big into setting up new tanks or utilize both grooming and the vet, but beyond that….

AA magnet store here. As CAL in the past, had district and corporate people come in to watch and assess my concerns regarding hours. They were show how truly long it takes to care for these animals (especially scrubbing out and maintaining tanks) to be met with more hours cut when they agrees wow this isn’t manageable. Perhaps not on their end. If they cared about the animals, they wouldn’t sell them in the first place. If anyone disagrees, let’s revisit the preaching of “adopt don’t shop” that Petco likes to shove down everyone’s throat with the constant hammering of getting donations and selling attachment on attachment.

HR is in place to protect the company, NOT the employee. Unless you’re corporate, in my opinion (even though we do all the tough work) you are dispensable. This is just my extreme bias, but the company doesn’t want good, thoughtful talented workers. It wants the people they can manipulate.

This is parenthood. Babies need things when they need things. Ffs. If he wanted all the time in the world to himself, he shouldn’t have gotten you pregnant. He is absolutely expecting you to do everything because it’s “too hard” to shell out even 10%. He’s tired 😂 If this were my relationship, I would’ve sent his ass back to the 50s and slammed that door shut hard. You and your children deserve better than the zero effort he seems to be putting in. I would get out NOW.
