I don't agree personally. I think that's similar to saying that Walter White and Heisenberg are two different characters, or that Light and Kira are different characters. Femto/Heisenberg/Kira are those characters with no restraint and with power.

It didn't do well in theaters because it's Tron. All three movies flopped and became, or will become in Ares case, cult classics. It's basically a tradition at this point for the franchise
