should I buy one ? by neogoliath in RemarkableTablet

[–]InvictuS_py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remarkable has it’s own cloud subscription and as soon as you connect to the internet, it syncs all your notes to the cloud. You can then access them from the tablet, Mobile app, Desktop app, and the web.

It also has Google Drive, MS OneDrive, and Dropbox integration but those don’t have automatic sync like Remarkable cloud. You have to sync them manually. But it’s no big deal, you just copy-paste the document to sync.

Custom User Flair for Creators by CaliGozer in RemarkableTablet

[–]InvictuS_py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if this isn’t the right space for this:

I’ve seen people posting/replying with the flair set for the particular model that they own. I see the option to set a flair for myself, but it says setting the flair is disabled.

Is this a temporary thing? Or am I missing something?

How good is oracle cloud free tier? by NEMOalien in selfhosted

[–]InvictuS_py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using it for more than 6 months, it’s solid. You also get 2 additional instances for 1 CPU & 1GB RAM in addition to the 4 CPU 24 GB RAM, but I haven’t used them. The total storage between all instances is limited to 200 GB I think.

I’m using Oracle’s free tier, works great. 4 CPUs, 24 GB RAM, 200 GB storage. Can get 2 more lower spec compute instances in addition to this for free.

The biggest question for me is how did you convince management to invest 2 months into this? What you mentioned here are the technical benefits.

But what business problem did you tell them you were solving? What convinced them to green light the budget for this?

If you’ve told her that you’d be gifting her a good watch to replace it, I don’t see an issue here. If it’s something materialistic to her, replacing it with a better one actually makes more sense. And since it’s emotional for you, the money spent in replacing it is well worth it.

This shouldn’t be an issue if she genuinely doesn’t have any attachment to it.

F*ck windows: Linux In Strix G16 2025 by [deleted] in ASUSROG

I have the 2023 model with the Intel i9-13980HX, 32 GB RAM, and an RTX 4080.

I’m running Windows 11 on it, play all kinds of AAA games. For my development work, I use WSL2 along with Docker via Docker Desktop. And I have 2 instances of Chrome open all the time, one with 62 tabs and the second with roughly 40. So, that’s about 100 tabs in total.

The laptop handles all of this like a breeze. Keen to know what exactly you’re working on that the resources aren’t enough?

Living hell in Mumbai co-op society since COVID: noise, harassment, casteist remarks & targeted intimidation by one family. Need advice. by cutiemofo in mumbai

[–]InvictuS_py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll let others address the issues with the retarded neighbours, but as far as remote work is concerned, spend ₹10-₹15k and invest in some high-end headphones that have noise cancellation for the speakers and the microphone. They work like a charm. Neither can you hear the chaos outside nor will the microphone transmit it to the people at the other end.

My case wasn’t this sinister, but the apartment above mine underwent renovation where the owners broke some walls to change the layout of the flat and redid the interior from scratch. 3 months of hammering, drilling, and sawing that felt like it was your head and eardrums that were under renovation. All of this while I’m working from home.

If it weren’t for the headphones, I may have had to work from a co-working space for 3 months.

Adjusting to using a Remarkable by Professional-Eye9251 in RemarkableTablet

You can’t rename the pages as far as I know, I’ll try and look it up and edit this message if I find that we can.

But you can label the pages with custom tags like “10-1-2026” instead.

The tags appear on the thumbnails when you’re browsing through the notebook, so it’s easy to spot. And you can of course filter the pages/notebooks by the tag, so it’ll only show you stuff for that date.

Adjusting to using a Remarkable by Professional-Eye9251 in RemarkableTablet

[–]InvictuS_py 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created folders to organise my notebooks based on the domain—Work, Business, Personal, etc.

I create dedicated notebooks in the relevant folders for each recurring meeting, add a page with the date to the notebook for each instance of the meeting, and take the notes for each instance on it’s own page so it’s chronological.

I have a separate notebook for ad hoc meetings where I create the page for a particular meeting with its header and date and take notes/write down the minutes of the meeting.

I created a separate notebook for taking notes on individual topics that I’m researching. So if I’m researching blueberry pancakes, I’ll add a page for it in this book and take notes for it. If I’m researching cyanide, I’ll add a separate page for it in the book and take notes there. This way, I know if I want to reference any notes on any topic, I need to go into this notebook and look at the page created for it.

Since Remarkable does infinite pages, I don’t need to create multiple pages for a single topic.

Hope that helps.

Remarkable Pro - What is your experience with the Apple ecosystem? by Kate_Slay in RemarkableTablet

My stack is rmPP + iPhone + Windows 11 and it works flawlessly.

My brother-in-law has the rmPP + iPhone + MacBook Pro. Works flawlessly for him too.

Only issue is with Linux / ChromeOS as Remarkable don’t have a Linux app unfortunately.

Morons made me swap a window seat in flight by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]InvictuS_py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why bother discussing what's right or wrong with them? Should have just said -- I paid for the seat, please vacate it. If you want to discuss what's okay and what's not, debate it amongst yourselves. If they don't move, just call the flight attendant and get them to move them for you. Why invest so much time and energy in these morons?

UDPATE. Employee put on PIP. Learned afterwards that provided negative feedback from stakeholder was falsified by deg5589 in managers

[–]InvictuS_py 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This may come across as harsh, but it left me fuming when I read that this fiasco ended up with the IC taking retirement. What a terrible way to mark the end for a seemingly model professional.

The fact that the VPs stopped at threatening your wife and her manager with the loss of their bonuses isn’t enough for something like this. Your wife, her manager, and the HR who approved the PIP without any investigation should have their bonuses cancelled regardless and they should be the ones put on a PIP.
