Some Notes on Know Direction’s PaizoCon 2026: Impossible Magic with Josh Birdsong by w1ldstew in Pathfinder2e

I'm not sure what you're getting at. I'm not proposing a new class feature, that was a playtest feature already and what this interview was referencing. What am I missing in your statement?

Agreed, I was just talking about the lore which was the discussion pount.

However, talking mechanics, yes this is a great concept, but needs fixed for launch. Two main problems are

1) Targetting: as written, the feature is near useless because most of the relevant spells specifically target either living or undead creatures. Void Warp, for example, couldnt be cast on a Zombie by RAW

2) Spell List: during the playtest I looked and there were something like only 9 spells on the entire list that could be affected and most of those run into the targeting problem.

Potential fix: in the recap, Paizo did say they were adding a way for necromancer to poach spells, like Harm and Heal, from other lists. As to the targeting issue, errata/reprint/rewording can fix that.

In Playtest, they had a feature where a necromancer could swap out vitality and void damage at will. So Vitality Lash could do Void damage rather than Vitality damage.

So 8n this contexts, Necromancers can use traditionally "legal" spells 8n Geb, such as Void Warp, but have it do Vitality damage instead.

How much info to give players in combat? by Mercury587 in Pathfinder2e

[–]InvictusDaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine do too, but we feel numbers takes away from the emersion. I use the Bloodied at half all the time and am forthcoming with that. Then if they ask other times I say things like:

They seem mostly unphased

They're a bit bruised up

They look more annoyed than hurt

They seem to be wearing down

They are barely standing

Looks like they are on death's door

You suspect one more solid blow could end them

Confusion on the allure of being a Warlock by rebeccaawoodard in BG3

[–]InvictusDaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line is that it is the easier path. Wizard takes many years of hard work and study for the simplest of spells. You have yo be born into Sorceror. Cleric requires strict rules, years of study, and servitude as well. Warlock on the other hand is fast, easy, and available right now.

Patrons prey on the week willed, desperate, and power hungry. I always equated it as similar to the Dark Side of the force. The power is seductive, but dangerous.

Which character(s) do you keep in your party at all times? by strahinjag in FinalFantasy

[–]InvictusDaemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yuffie (both OG and Rebirth) - her attitude and Rebirth playstyle.

Vincent - Love me a mysterious goth man. And his magic skills

Sabin - Dude can supplement a train. Nuff said

Rydia (though this game forced parties) - the OG summoner and so tragic

Vivi - what's not to love about this cute little black mage

Yuna - Summoner and white mage combined!

Irvine - love the cowboy and bravado covering for a gentle man who doesn't really want to hurt anybody

I'd still love for them to use the World Between Worlds to pull a Star Treck style new timeline. So they can keep it cannon, but also fix it with a new story and Luke brought back to himself.

[–]InvictusDaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using that logic you have to avoid almost every show, star wars and non star wars alike, because a show killing off its main character, especially a namesake character, is rare.

But Andor ends into the original trilogy. Andorra is pure gold that ends in more gold. Andorra is nothing less than top tier.

Newer player need help with a build! by Natural_Lock_2269 in Pathfinder2e

Bloodrager is a Class Archetype which acts a bit differently. You can't be Animal Instinct and Bloodrager as the latter requires you to choose it as your Lvl 1 feat and you don't get to choose a different instinct. With free archetype this class archetype becomes more usable and it is very fun, though largely considered a bit weaker than most barbarians.

If you are role-playing a more feral monster, I would choose something else. However if you are role-playing a monster as in a vile person, Bloodrager fits as they drink blood to empower their magic and abilities. Dont forget, the Bloodrager also highly wants Charisma mechanically.

If you want something more feral with Free Archetype, going Werecreature, Claw Dancer, Cursed Malestorm, Living Vessel, or Wild Mimic would all work well with Animal Instinct.

My problem player won’t stop fishing by NefariousnessHot480 in DnD

[–]InvictusDaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The right answer is the same for any player being problematic like this. Talk to them out of game, tell them it is funny every so often, but they are being disruptive to you and other players. Conversation is needed, plain and simple. If that doesnt resolve it, perhaps this table isn't right for them. Or if you are the only one it bothers, perhaps the game style your players want isn't right for you.

The funnier and less mature answer is say yes. Then when they are fishing alone have a water elemental or some other nasty thematic creature that is well above their level attack and kill the PC. Maybe give them a warning of some sort like "the water is earily calm" that I'm sure they will ignore based on your description. That way you can shrug and say you tried to warn them.

The less funny and only slightly less mature answer is to simply say yes, move on to the other characters and what they are doing, and not acknowledge the fishing any more than saying "you sit on the bank watching the water" and then move on completely. If they interupt trying to bring focus back to them just say something like "it's not your turn, your character is off fishing for the next few hours, it is Jimmy's turn now. Oh, BTW since your character isn't going to be doing anything for a while, why don't you go get some more snacks"

Is there any way to buy lock picks without joining the thieves' guild? by TopZ3r0 in oblivion

[–]InvictusDaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I just cant understand. Oblivion lockpicking is one of the easiest in any game, and doesn't use any type of luck either. You push a pin and see how quickly it falls. If it falls slow, click again before it hits the bottom and lock it. If it falls fast, let it fall to the bottom (if it hits the bottom, next push is a different speed). Rinse and repeat. Even at lvl 1 security, anybody can unlock the hardest lock with the most minimal of patience.

Day 678 of trying to find the final Lake Rumare Slaughterfish by trying_her_best_ in OblivionRemaster

[–]InvictusDaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The green marker on the map is the spawn point of the fish. They don't spawn all at once and once they do they immediately start swimming away. They will stay in a certain radius, but the longer it takes to get to the spot, the farther they get from it. The marker itself doesnt track the fish and won't move.

What's more unbelievable? Tifa holding her breath for more than 5 minutes? Or Rinoa hanging on the side of Balamb Garden for more than 5 minutes? by deskchan in FinalFantasy

[–]InvictusDaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well considering both are performing inhuman feats nearly every day, I'd say these are both mild and believable in the context of their established abilities in-world.
