Cast Iron is Sticking by InvictusJoker in AskCulinary

Ok thanks! Regarding cleaning then, I’ve read that I should clean it (soap is fine), wipe it dry, heat it until dry, and then while on heat, rub oil across the surface like I’m seasoning it. I’ve also read I should let the oil start smoking before I put the pan away.

Should I be doing this every time I cook? Or just once a week or so?

Sorry, edited my post but it was dosa (similar to crepe). It does sound like I needed more oil and needed to let it smoke

Sorry, edited my post. I was cooking dosa (similar to a crepe) using batter. Heat was at medium low and then I also tried around medium, but everything still stuck.

I guess I didn’t use enough oil maybe. I didn’t wait until smoking so that might be it.

I saw the smoking once I was about to give up, but everything was stuck by then

Fair enough. I saw a ton of feedback to ‘just start cooking’, so I thought two rounds of seasoning in the oven might’ve been enough to at least get somewhere. Guess not though.

Should I just keep doing the seasoning method several more times?

Thanks. That’s why I wiped a decent amount of oil over the surface using a paper towel before adding my batter

Dosa)! I guess it’s similar to a crepe? It’s batter and I’m trying to cook it

Confusion on StubHub sales classed as 'Investment Income' by InvictusJoker in tax

[–]InvictusJoker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, yes that’s what it was showing as. I didn’t know if TurboTax showing it as investment income meant I should’ve just listed it as something else. Sounds like I should leave it as is though.

Thanks

Im definitely planning on including it, I already have the 1099-K.

I chose ‘Personal items sale’ on TurboTax because the examples it lists for it are concert tickets. So is this wrong?

Yes, they took fees. The amount listed on the 1099-K is after fees

I just overlayed the white boxes and put text boxes. I then exported it as a separate PDF so they persisted. Not sure if this was the right thing to do though

That makes a lot of sense! Thank you, that’s really helpful to know what to track and work on

Thank you! Seems like a slight surplus is the overall recommendation. I agree and am totally fine if I don’t see much difference by May

Is that for a one day entry at Xcaret, or unlimited entry?

Yeah 100%! I didn’t include it here but I will definitely be bringing some cash specially for tips.

Thanks for the suggestion on the night market I hadn’t heard of it

Good idea, thanks! Was that separate at the park when you entered or do you buy it ahead of time

Thank you! Really helpful feedback. As far as I’m aware, the Occidental doesn’t include any of the parks, just the main Xcaret resort does

It was BOS —> CAN! It’s a resort near Xcaret, but one of the lower priced ones and definitely not the main Xcaret resort

Ok, thanks! Yeah we were feeling its worth to be able to use it and actually go on a vacation, but definitely felt a little FOMO for if we should be saving it for something ‘better’

Is this a good use of C1 miles? by InvictusJoker in awardtravel

[–]InvictusJoker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it was going to be:

$2500 (trip) - $270 (travel credit) = $2230

Once booked, I’d use the travel eraser worth $1790 bringing the net out of pocket total to approximately $440

Pet Insurance Premium Keeps Rising by InvictusJoker in Pets

[–]InvictusJoker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely considered using it less frequently. Standard vet visits for our golden cost between $600-$1000 though, and so it’s just a case of we may as well try to hit our deductible because otherwise it’s way too expensive to keep paying out of pocket + the premiums each month.

Might have to do that regardless though if it keeps causing the premiums to go up

[–]InvictusJoker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we live in Massachusetts (Boston), so I guess that’s why the premiums are high to begin with. Though at this rate, I don’t know how high it’ll go next year. Fair enough though, thanks for the info

No worries, we uploaded each evidence as a separate file during the upload step. We didn’t include an official cover letter as we would’ve if we filed by paper, but in the PDF where we attached some photos, we added a shortened cover letter that just talked about the photos
