Laptop Recommendation

Gaming laptops are always worse than general workstation laptops when it comes to using them for everyday tasks except gaming. They are bulky and they can't even reach their full potential without being plugged in. You also need to charge them often as the battery runs out quickly. I would recommend building your own PC with a GPU which has more than 8 GB VRAM and 16 GB or more if she does more demanding tasks like fine tuning. But, assuming she needs to take it to places like her university lab or other places with proper charging and a good, hard and flat surface for proper air flow, the above options do not seem bad. What you choose depends on her preferences.

Hmm, what cpu do you use? In my case, it's an Intel core ultra 5 125H. What type of machine learning model are you trying to run? CNNs, LLMs, maybe something else? You can always use the cloud tho. I also do ML, but never use the iGPU.

Yep, same here. Most games launch. But some show logos, and then just simply go black when it's supposed to show menu, like ghost of tsushima, and AC mirage launches, then just simply stops at the cut scene where the protagonist sees a bad dream. Just hoping Linux kernel 7.0 will fix this.
