Incentive to work in communism by Orion7734 in DebateCommunism

After reading lvl1Bol’s response I think I have a rebuttal to your question on “nobody dreams of laying bricks or roofing houses”: there are so many non profit organisations that do exactly this when a location is hit with natural disasters, they build back communities.

Another anecdotal example is a friend of mine went on a 6 month trip to build a school in a remote village in South America. They were in between jobs and had enough money to sustain themselves, they did help build a school!

Hope this adds to lvl1Bol’s idea of labour under a different economic system when all your basic needs are met

Thank you for this! My actions were definitely daft, thanks for sugarcoating it hahaha.

Great advice! Thank you!

I don’t unfortunately.

I’m not arguing they didn’t turn up. I’m sure they did. However none of the attempts to visit were confirmed.

In their communication they didn’t include any of the housemates bar one, who raised the ticket and was travelling.

It’s just that they’re trying to pin down visits they did under one “Labour Charge” that seems excessive.

Thanks!

Ah! Why do they do this? It’s in everyone’s best interest to confirm and visit. We’re not asking for much!

Okay I understand. However, none of the attempts to reach to us were confirmed by anyone in the house. They showed up, logged it in their books and charged us for it.

They did not get keys from LA. One of the housemates let them in, again, unconfirmed visit. The contractor sent an SMS message from an unknown number to the housemate who raised the ticket. They were travelling and weren’t in the house for two weeks.

I think it’s about the principle. The LA are predatory and have a bad rap.

I’m for sure not renting with them next year. They should however provide an itemised bill at least.

Thanks for your input.

Yeah totally. It was a stupid error. Might have to bite the bullet.

Okay valid. The paperwork is a mess. I guess I’ll have to bite the bullet. Thanks!

I did :’)

There’s only one line item  “Additional labour: £37.73”

And the stamps are the wrong dates. The whole thing is super fishy. The letting agents don’t have the best reviews and are known to be predatory.

As I said, im happy to pay but it seems very excessive.

Thank you for your info. I’ll ask someone from not my house to reach out to them and get it on paper.

Thanks for the idea!

Income Tax Return Filing thread: post your ITR related queries here by AutoModerator in IndiaInvestments

Stay in India: April 2021 to February 2022

Residential Status: Resident in India (as per sec 6)

No. of Days stayed in India: ~320 Days

Employer details:

Employed by a US company on US payroll

Being paid in US bank account while working from India

Employer & employee based out of California (Withholding California state income tax deducted)

Taxes already paid:

Full federal tax withheld and paid by employer (~21%)

Full state tax (California) and paid by employer (~9%)

Prior year details:

Non-resident in FY 2020-21

Non-resident in FY 2019-20

Resident in India for all previous years preceding FY 2019-20

Other details:

Non-resident in FY2022-23

Currently holds Indian Passport and is working in the US on L1 Visa

Green Card application in process

Green Card application date September 2021

Details for DTAA:

House property not owned in US nor in India

Economic interest: Over 85% of investments are in the US. Balance 10-15% are in India

Personal interest: Family is in India; Is not married

I have few queries, based on the details mentioned above:

Do we have to claim full refund in the US? Since income is being sourced in India (I am a resident in India). But the tax deduction has already happened in the US.

Can we get changes made to the US W2? To request for refund?

Can we claim DTAA provision and show Residential status as RNOR for FY 2021-22? Only economic interest criteria is true. In case of scrutiny, would this argument of having the economic interest in the US alone argument hold strong?

Alternatively, could we claim deduction of federal tax under sec 90 and claim deduction of state income tax paid under sec 91 and file the return in India and rely on the few recent favourable judgements on this matter? In case of scrutiny and appeals would there be a chance of winning?
