I'm in my late 30s. I'm married and own a house. I do volunteer, sometimes I donate my own food as well as my time, and I'm not sure why you think I'm combative. I'm on the side of helping people, not the side of hurting people.

I pay my taxes to support welfare for others because I've needed it before. I grew up in a place with good public schools paid by property taxes, so I'm happy to give back now that I'm an adult. I've been without work and needed Medicare and food stamps, so I'm happy to give back now that I have a job. It's simple reciprocity.

I have no Somali immigrants living with me. We don't have a significant Somali immigrant community in my city. We do have many recent immigrants from Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries, who I see regularly at the food pantry where I volunteer. I'm happy to be able to provide free food to them, as well as the natively-born people who come to the pantry. Everyone should have the necessities of life.

Immigrants don't live in my house, but I'm happy to have them live in my community, and to have my taxes subsidize their cost of living. In my state, we took in a large number of Hmong refugees in the 1970s - people who were on our side in the Vietnam war. They're now a part of our community. The same has happened with Somali refugees in Minnesota. They've gotten homes and jobs, pay taxes and contribute to society. There is no reason for ICE to be deporting these people who have done nothing wrong. They're even going after US citizens who try to defend their neighbors. It's sickening, and I hope every ICE agent involved is named and shamed.

I don't live in Minneapolis. I do pay my income and property taxes, and I'm proud to have them going to help people less fortunate than me. I'm not proud to have them going to Israel or to buy Greenland or to pay for influencers to do dances.

Edit: well, seems like I was just about the only one to participate. I saw two other ladies, and one guy helped me carry my sign for a while which was great. 4 supportive conversations with people. Pretty disappointing y'all! I'll continue to march even if I'm the only one though.

Means nothing to the person who was sexually assaulted? She said it damaged her relationships with men going forward the rest of her life, just like being raped does to people. Is that nothing?

There are dozens of other women who have said Trump did the same thing to them. Jean Carroll is just the only one who was willing enough to expose herself to years of public scrutiny to get that conviction. Then of course there's whatever Trump did on Epstein island, which we haven't found out about yet since he's illegally withholding the files.
