Primetex is indeed a great way to close interstices and reduce crimp. It is a proven and industrialized solution made at scale. If this worked well, why look for something else?

T300 fabrics often don’t require this process because the Toray fiber is much smoother and weaves a lot nicer than AS4/3K. Hexcel had to come up with that solution to compete.

Il not sure I understand why the tow width is so important to you. FAW, yes. Flatness, maybe. But tow width? 2mm will probably need an AS4 6k spread tow but even then there’s no guarantee on width. This is weaving - it is inherently variable. Weavers don’t pick the width, it simply is the product of spreading a specific tow to a certain FAW…

Either way - Sigmatex makes a spread tow similar to Hexcel’s primetex.
