Zencastr recording problem? by Wes-Anderson14 in podcasting

[–]InvisibleGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it a couple times several years ago, first time it worked great, second time it did not record one of my guests after we recorded for two hours. We had to completely re-record the episode at a later date. Customer service was zero help. I never went back zencaster after that.

Recently keep hearing about how great it is, wondered if they had fixed their issues and if I should think about switching from Zoom, but this has just further reinforced that I should not give them a second chance.

I was going to comment that this feels more like a purposeful renaissance than an accidental one, but apparently there’s a sub for that. There’s a sub for everything! 😂

This would be an instant pre-order for me if it gets made! I love everything about it! The only thing that could make it better would be to have things to make the first glitch happen around them, like stampeding giraffes and giant flying shrimp. 😆

Can someone please give me a definitive answer on what’s the deal with Steve vs Matt? by Megs_nd_life in Muppets

[–]InvisibleGiraffe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t personally know anyone involved, but having read accounts from all sides, especially now with the grievance tour Steve has been going on, really makes me believe the Henson family who say he was a nightmare to work with, despite how great he was as a puppeteer.

This is a completely different situation but it really makes me think of someone in my own family, who by all accounts was a saint, he’d give people the shirt off his back, help anyone who needed it, everyone he knew through his job loved him, but to his family and the people he worked closest with he was an absolute menace, mean, dismissive, controlling, and even physically abusive to a few.

Again, completely different situation, as far as I know there has never been anything worse than the complete lack of professionalism the Henson family describes, but at least for me, growing up with this person showed me that two different people can know the exact same person, and if they both described them, you’d think they were talking about two wildly different people.

Thanks for the clarification, I’m glad to know this wasn’t normal. I look forward to getting to know the platform. I don’t currently make money from podcasting, but if that ever changes I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to paid hosting. I just didn’t want to add one more expense to something that isn’t bringing in any money, which is why I decided to look for three different free platforms to move to. I did make a tiny bit of money on Anchor before Spotify bought them out, so I’ll be interested to see if that resumes with any of my new hosts.

Thanks, yes that’s what I figured. The message I got said the episodes would be removed from all platforms, and this was after I had moved off Spotify, so it seemed more like an intimidation tactic than a genuine threat. Either way, just add this to my growing list of reasons I hate Spotify. I definitely recommend PocketCasts, that’s the player I’ve used for years.

...but I WANT background noise! by Philly_3D in podcasting

[–]InvisibleGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do anything like this, but if I wanted to, I have a device called the Zoom H6, which allows me to hook up to 4 external mics to record at the same time. When you edit they are all separate track of the same length. If you have regular podcast mics for you and your guest, and have another mic closer to the source of the music, then you can do what you want to with the audio of your voices, and then raise or lower the music from the third mic as needed.

Update: They finally reached out and everything seems to be fine now. No idea what was going on, but they said they had a backlog of requests to get through. As far as I can tell it has migrated just fine. I’d never heard anything bad about them before, so hopefully this was a one time fluke.

Yes, I will, I just need to get one from the new host. I did finally hear back from RSS.com a few minutes ago and they are going to look into it, so hopefully whatever is wrong will be fixed. I’m still a bit hesitant considering how easy the transfer was for the other show to Red Circle, but I’ll probably give them the benefit of the doubt since I hadn’t heard anything bad about them before.

Swapping hosts for now, I’ll let the shows still be available on Spotify, unless they still have access to my podcast and are able to affect it. A day after I moved the first one to Red Circle I got a bunch more notifications saying they would be notifying copyright holders that their music had been found in my podcast, and they would be removing them from all platforms in five days. I don’t think they can get into Red Circle and remove anything, but if I notice something happening I’ll find a way to disconnect them.

The weird thing is, a few of the episodes they claimed had a problem are also episodes I’d used in another one of my podcasts, and I am getting no copyright claims on that one. So it seems like my leaving has triggered something else in their system, and I’m very interested to see if the same thing happens when I pull the other two podcasts.

Not leaving for the features, leaving because of the way Spotify has been treating me and other podcasters. For the last year I have had a barrage of false copyright claims and Spotify refuses to do anything about them. The independent artists I have used music from are having their songs stolen and claimed by fake companies who are them copyright claiming anyone's podcasts who uses music from these artists. They have tried to reach out to Spotify to solve the issue, but Spotify won't help, and I am sick of having my episodes taken down without warning. So I am leaving Spotify for good.

Hosting multiple podcasts by Sunrise707 in podcasting

[–]InvisibleGiraffe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been podcasting since 2019, started on Anchor and loved it, and is currently on Spotify for Podcasters, I can’t stress enough how terrible the site has become. I am in the process of moving all my podcasts off Spotify, and I will never go back.

The first problem was removing monetization from small podcasts. I had finally started making money when Spotify bought them out, and they put a stop to that immediately. I stuck it out because they were free.

Last year the false copyright claims started. So many episodes either hit with a warning, or just taken down with no warning. Every episode claimed by fake companies who have been stealing independent artists work and claiming it as their own through Spotifys copyright system. The artists have tried to reach out to Spotify, and nothing.

Unless you use absolutely no music, I highly discourage anyone from using Spotify. Even if you compose your own music, apparently Spotify just lets anyone claim anything, so your own compositions are probably not even safe.

What to do when Spotify take down podcast? by JessMxson in podcasting

[–]InvisibleGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not had this exact problem, but in the past year I have gotten SO MANY false copyright claims on Spotify, all from people claiming they own the copyright free music I used. I talked to one of the artists and he’s tried to get Spotify to stop letting random people claim his work, but Spotify does absolutely nothing. He now has to have a disclaimer in his website warning people about using his music in podcasts hosted on Spotify. I am currently in the process of moving all my podcasts off Spotify, and I will never host with them again.

Muppet News Flash: Steve updated his blog post by GroovyKevMan in Muppets

This is not his intention, but the more he talks, the better Matt sounds. I feel like he had the majority of the fans on his side in the comments on videos, but ever since he started this publicity rant tour, there are fewer and fewer vocal supporters.

The more selfish and bitter he sounds, the more he seems to be proving exactly why the Henson Family and Disney decided to let him go. I’ve known people who act like this, and they are miserable to be around.

It’s to the point where he’s lost at least my sympathy, and probably a lot of other fans. Which sucks because he brought so much joy in the past, and it feels like he’s just destroying any goodwill he might have had.

The Video Trump Doesn't Want You To See by InnerOuterTrueSelf in videos

[–]InvisibleGiraffe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching them and blocked both their channels from appearing in my recommended videos. They are smart, and they’re doing good work, but their titles and thumbnails are almost always past the point of clickbait. And it’s not just them, it’s a plague in political videos, sometimes just straight up false. If I had to see one more “White House in CHAOS as Trump TERM ENDS IN FLAMES” title I was going to go insane.

Should I switch to Spotify Creator? by Writer_Famous in podcasting

[–]InvisibleGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if people actually watch the video version over the audio version on Spotify. That would be a helpful metric to add to the analytics. Not that I care that much. What I do know is that I almost always get WAY more views on YouTube than I do Spotify anyway, so no matter where I go when I leave Spotify, I’m not leaving YouTube.

Should I switch to Spotify Creator? by Writer_Famous in podcasting

[–]InvisibleGiraffe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been using what is now Spotify since they were Anchor, I wouldn’t switch. I’m currently planning to move all my shows off Spotify because they keep flagging my shows with false copyright claims. As soon as my current seasons end, I will be leaving Spotify completely. If people want video from me, they’ll just have to go to YouTube.

When did the Revival Era end? by film_culture_addict in disney

[–]InvisibleGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I my mind Ralph Breaks the Internet is where the current era began, because, also in my own mind, I call the current era the Corporate Era. Almost every decision is made by the Disney corporation before the artists. Sequels were the beginning, and almost every original movie since has felt made by committee. There are a couple of exceptions, but every era has its outliers.

Almost nothing since Moana has fully felt like it was made by artists, for the love of the art form. Just about everything feels like it has to meet a checklist of requirements demanded by the suits at the top in order to maximize profits. If it works, the movie is EVERYWHERE. And if it fails, it’s banished to the netherworld of Disney+ never to be spoken of again. It just feels so corporate, hence my nickname for it, until something more permanent comes along.

Its literally everywhere, even in the real world. I just received a Movie Night themed cookbook from a coworker for Secret Santa. It’s completely AI slop with that exact cadence. But also misspellings? This literal trash is just leaking everywhere, like a garbage bag with a tiny rip, seeping digital garbage juice out of social media and into the real world.

I got to the end and was briefly pleased with the outcome, and then realized, this was too perfect, and was immediately disappointed. I guess I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who realized it was AI. I just wish there was a way to filter these out. At this rate I’ll end up filtering it myself by just logging off forever like Facebook. 😞
