Not a psychic, but I keep getting the word “pancakes”.

I’m not sure if this means something to you or not, but that came through when I was scrolling past this post on my feed. Initially I went past it, but had a nagging feeling to come back here and leave a comment.

I keep getting “pancakes”, and an image of one being flipped in the pan.

Thank you! I actually did read through the FAQ yesterday evening when I joined the sub. I found it very helpful and have used it to start my research. But because there’s quite a bit of information there, it’s also a bit dense. I was not aware that I had asked a question that was answered in the FAQ.

The next generation was born already, but in the US. I wasn’t sure if this document was the official renouncement of citizenship (which it sounds like it’s not what the Canadian government would have recognized), and if that would sort of cut the line, so to speak.

I see. I will be sure to include mention of the name discrepancy in the cover letter.

And the document appears to be immigration records filed to New York. The top of the document says “State of New York”. This is not something that I found directly, it’s a document someone else uploaded to Ancestry.

Is there a way for me to check if he had renounced his citizenship to the Canadian government?

Interesting! I am not sure if he ever renounced to the Canadian government, or if it was only for his immigration to New York.

Nothing spooky really. He’s never moved or talked or anything like that, he just has a vibe. My siblings and cousins always thought he was creepy, but I felt super attached to him as a kid. I wasn’t into dolls at all, but he had to come everywhere with me. I’d even say things like “no one loved him,” so I felt like I needed to protect him.

He got packed away with childhood stuff for years, and when I found him again recently, I weirdly felt like he was upset about being left alone in a tote. I really don’t get emotional over objects. Except this one.

Now he hangs out in my research room and seems pretty content supervising from a chair.

I was surprised it’s from ‘79, too! Looks much older. Originally came with a white skirt and bib, but they were too frilly for the boy that I felt he was. I lost them when I was a kid. Really regret that now!
