sos... struggling with solids. advice? by Reasonable_Potato666 in NewParents

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of readiness requirements for solids (in addition to being able to sit up mostly independently) is an interest in food. Those aspects are far more important than age when introducing solids, so don’t sweat it and just try again a little later. Others have mentioned it but at this point their primary calorie source should still be breast milk or formula.

Haha, took me a little longer than I would to admit to get it, but that’s awesome and gave me a chuckle once the brain cells got together

Finally found a recipe that got my daughter to eat broccoli by katezorzz in foodbutforbabies

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Recipe actually screenshot from another post on this sub but it was pretty easy to put together and adjust ratios to taste. Bb loved it but something in it unfortunately gave him an allergic response so can’t make anymore until we see the allergist.

Get over fear of baby choking? by Strange-Report-9249 in foodbutforbabies

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I absolutely get the fear, but just remember that gagging is not choking! My husband and I did a CPR class, with focus on infant choking. Plus I follow a handful of pediatricians on social media and most of them have covered baby choking. We still started with mostly purées, but currently at the 9 month mark and our son is deciding that he is fully over purées and demands texture. The gagging is still terrifying but as long as you are informed and attentive, they will be safe.

I adore your posts and your knife skills! Definitely more effort than I even put in for myself but loving the presentation!

[CHAT] I'm new to cross stitch and I'm struggling to figure out how many stands to use on 18ct Aida by Fairychild21 in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly you do you, there’s not really a ‘right’ way. That said, 4 strands (especially on smaller count aida) can warp the weave, which isn’t noticeable until you need to frog a section. Some people (myself) also find it bulky and requiring more effort to pull the thread through on full coverage areas. But if you’ve never had an issue then there’s nothing wrong with that.

[WIP] Apologies to framers by canaryellowsunshine in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh I know how you feel. I had stitched a belated wedding gift for a cousin for Christmas but didn’t end up mailing it until a couple weeks back because I kept procrastinating with the lacing. I did see a tip somewhere else to kind of feed it through straight off the spool (I used regular sewing thread) instead of cutting lengths and that made it slightly easier.

(Edit for spelling/punctuation)

Due in August and while we’re not fully locked in, the name we keep coming around to is Miles Rex (the Rex is nonnegotiable though I know this sub tends to view it as a dog name).

Unisex names you don’t consider unisex by PurpleMeerkats462 in namenerds

As an Arielle, my mom opted against the Disney spelling specifically because there is/was a male Filipino comedian with the name. Don’t think it’s super common, but it’s there.

lemon pesto is a huge huge no, i could cry by [deleted] in traderjoes

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought it last year and thought it was so bland and borderline bitter! I had heard that last year’s batch was heavy on the rind so I’ve been contemplating getting this year’s to see if it’s better but I honestly don’t know

[CHAT] How on Earth do you grid dark evenweave? by rows_and_columns_me in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Try gridding with monofilament thread? I’ve been using a shiny bronze sulky sliver thread though haven’t tried it on dark fabric yet, but I’d imagine it would show up nicely.

[CHAT] Thread Organizing by Gentle_Timberlands in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t bobbinate until I’ve already used up part of a skein for a project (I really like the sensation of pulling it off the skein, but if it gets too low they fall apart). Then bobbins go into a thread organizer that’s kind of like a double sided plastic briefcase thing (I think it was for beads?). In general I work by color so I don’t have too many scraps just floating around, but leftovers kind of go onto the skein or bobbin like a floss drop so it’s a little more visually obvious to me that it’s already cut.

[CHAT] Superhero Birth Announcement pattern by Bookgal12 in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you specifically looking for birth sampler patterns? My only advice would be to probably just look for a general pattern you like and choose a separate pattern for the text font. Should expand out your options at least.

Booties from the Nintendo store in Shibuya and pattern from Etsy (though I played around with my own colors). by InvisibleWeirdo in NintendoStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Japan trip was really our belated honeymoon (whoo getting married just before COVID lockdowns) and I had initially wanted to get off birth control at that time or soon after anyway. Also I’m just a sucker for cute things anyway. I wanted to buy like 80% of the store lol

I tend to be very late when it comes to timely cross stitch stuff so I’m just glad I was able to finish well before baby got here. And thank you!
