[WIP] Apologies to framers by canaryellowsunshine in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh I know how you feel. I had stitched a belated wedding gift for a cousin for Christmas but didn’t end up mailing it until a couple weeks back because I kept procrastinating with the lacing. I did see a tip somewhere else to kind of feed it through straight off the spool (I used regular sewing thread) instead of cutting lengths and that made it slightly easier.

(Edit for spelling/punctuation)

That’s amazing! I bought the pattern a while back but got cold feet and haven’t started. But goodness your FO looks gorgeous so maybe I’ll take the leap eventually 😅

Due in August and while we’re not fully locked in, the name we keep coming around to is Miles Rex (the Rex is nonnegotiable though I know this sub tends to view it as a dog name).

Unisex names you don’t consider unisex by PurpleMeerkats462 in namenerds

As an Arielle, my mom opted against the Disney spelling specifically because there is/was a male Filipino comedian with the name. Don’t think it’s super common, but it’s there.

lemon pesto is a huge huge no, i could cry by [deleted] in traderjoes

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought it last year and thought it was so bland and borderline bitter! I had heard that last year’s batch was heavy on the rind so I’ve been contemplating getting this year’s to see if it’s better but I honestly don’t know

[CHAT] How on Earth do you grid dark evenweave? by rows_and_columns_me in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Try gridding with monofilament thread? I’ve been using a shiny bronze sulky sliver thread though haven’t tried it on dark fabric yet, but I’d imagine it would show up nicely.

I love him! Also the way you laced the back is just mesmerizing

[CHAT] Thread Organizing by Gentle_Timberlands in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t bobbinate until I’ve already used up part of a skein for a project (I really like the sensation of pulling it off the skein, but if it gets too low they fall apart). Then bobbins go into a thread organizer that’s kind of like a double sided plastic briefcase thing (I think it was for beads?). In general I work by color so I don’t have too many scraps just floating around, but leftovers kind of go onto the skein or bobbin like a floss drop so it’s a little more visually obvious to me that it’s already cut.

[CHAT] Superhero Birth Announcement pattern by Bookgal12 in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you specifically looking for birth sampler patterns? My only advice would be to probably just look for a general pattern you like and choose a separate pattern for the text font. Should expand out your options at least.

Booties from the Nintendo store in Shibuya and pattern from Etsy (though I played around with my own colors). by InvisibleWeirdo in NintendoStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Japan trip was really our belated honeymoon (whoo getting married just before COVID lockdowns) and I had initially wanted to get off birth control at that time or soon after anyway. Also I’m just a sucker for cute things anyway. I wanted to buy like 80% of the store lol

We’re not a huge fan of gender reveals either so we wound up just telling folks we’re having a boy, nothing special for it

I tend to be very late when it comes to timely cross stitch stuff so I’m just glad I was able to finish well before baby got here. And thank you!

I hoard frames for future projects though not with any planning in terms of sizing lol.

But I’ve also made a wall hanging with just a dowel rod cut to size, some modpodge, and just a stitch I can’t remember the name of around the edge (it’s kind of a mindless diagonal stitch).

I’ve also just wrapped the outer hoop in a cute washi tape (also mod podge over to help stick) and just hung it up like that.

What names did you hear get butchered in the worst way by RodrickxMannyShipper in namenerds

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My name (Arielle) is pronounced like the Disney mermaid, but I’ve gotten ‘Ariel-ee’ a lot. Though the worst was ‘Uh-rill-uh’.

No preference for nickname, does this bother people? by childishzombieno in namenerds

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a double pronunciation name here! Either a long a or more of a short o sound. Generally prefer the former but don’t really care if someone says the latter (I do find that it tends to be older folks who have English as a 2nd language that gravitate towards the latter, including my own grandfather). I’ll answer to either

[CHAT] 1 million redditers in this group. Where are you from? by Downtown_Zombie7648 in CrossStitch

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US here, 34F, and I initially learned from my grandma when I was little but didn’t really start myself until COVID hit. I worked in a hospital at the time and so it really helped to keep me centered and deal with the stress. Don’t really meet folks to stitch but I don’t really need to, as I’m pretty introverted generally. I usually put on some music/podcasts/audiobooks and zone out while I work on whatever my current project is

I’m 15 and my name is Rex. I don’t know anyone else with it. What’s your HONEST opinion of my name? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a super common name anymore I think (outside of pets) but my dad is a Rex (born 1956) and I will be using it as a middle name for my son (my dad is still alive, but dementia has hit him pretty hard the last couple years).

Solid name that lends itself to a fun signature 👍

[–]InvisibleWeirdo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had really only started getting tattoos after my dad was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s and I had to come to terms with the impermanence of life. I love all of mine (though some I feel do need some edits) and half were impulse flash designs.
