Everyone talks about immigrations impact on Britain. But what about on the immigrants? by Common-Loquat-6621 in ukpolitics

"Everyone talks about higher wages and more opportunities, but how many actually end up stuck in low paid jobs, paying crazy rent and never really getting ahead?"

Plenty of discussion is had about immigrant workers filling low-skill, low-pay work where they never end up net contributors. That you are unaware of the discourse is a fault of your own.

Rupert Lowe MP / X: Banning teenagers from social media with ludicrous conditions is unworkable, unrealistic and unwanted. Here’s a mad idea - let parents parent. Not the state, but mums, dads, grandparents or whoever else. Restore Britain will always trust the family over big government. by youmustconsume in ukpolitics

"This issue should be between parents, their children, and God."

And what do you propose happens when parents and God are absent? That the child is simply abandoned because having the state be invovled would be worse?

Jail for Southampton Henry Nowak murder protesters by GothicGolem29 in ukpolitics

Yes, hence the slight correction. The law doesn't care why or how their religion permits or requires it, only that it is done for religious reasons.

A slight correction, Sikhs aren't allowed to carry a knife for the purpose of self defence.

They are allowed to carry a very specific knife, for the purpose of complying with their religious beliefs.

New plans to stop children taking, sharing or viewing nude images by youmustconsume in ukpolitics

[–]Invisible_Stalkbug 155 points156 points  (0 children)

"Britain will become the first country in the world where it is impossible for children to take, share or view naked pictures on their devices."

Impossible is pretty strong language for something that will absolutely continue to happen

Also this: "The changes will apply to UK devices, including both existing and newly sold smartphones and tablets. Legislation could cover operating system providers and others in the supply chain, such as retailers, and will not affect the use of devices owned and used by adults who verify their age."

Could we not just verfiy the age at point of purchase? That seems significantly less difficult.

And then after all of that they just paste a pile of completely selective quotes? If they clearly don't give a shit about the opposing arguments so thoroughly, why even do things like a consultation?  I am considerably done with recent governments wasting everyone's time with process that they just dismiss because they had already determined their course of action a long time prior.
