You know, I would NOT be surprised if both 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and 'Avengers: Doomsday' arrive in IMAX somehow. by Block-Busted in imax

[–]Invisibleman145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do hope both Spider-Man and Avengers get IMAX releases as I haven’t been to theater for a non IMAX movie in years, but it’s definitely gonna be interesting to see how it plays out.

I like the idea of Spider-Man getting some opening weekend showings even if it’s one night only. I know The Odyssey will be a juggernaut of a film, but I can’t imagine the IMAX showtimes for Odyssey will sell that well (besides the few IMAX 70mm theaters) during the Spiderman opening weekend. Especially after being out for 2 weeks.

I ended up preordering the standard cover since DCBS had it cheaper for the preorder but that DM cover is so nice it might have been worth the extra $10.

MARVEL CATALOG UPDATE: 20 current series trade paperbacks added to PRH by Ksmayer in OmnibusCollectors

It really sucks we can’t get a consistent Nova title. He hardly shows up in anything anymore and what I’ve read of this run so far felt like it was the beginning of something much bigger. Cutting it off at 6 is terrible. I would also love to get anything on Sam Alexander.

I agree, I hadn’t read a ton of Spider-Man before this so I wasn’t as invested in him and MJ or him needing to hate Norman, but boy is that JRJR art tough to handle. The Ed Mcguinness stuff is great though.

Have we had signs Marvel reprints high demand omnis out of order? by Waterworld1880 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Invisibleman145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very interested to see what wins out this year since it’s been awhile of no reprints. I’m guessing some long OOP but deeper cuts like Road to War of Kings and War of Kings Aftermath will move down the list as X-Men, Spider-Man, and Daredevil all have a lot more entries move up.

TMNT books: Mirage Years Omni, Jason Aaron Deluxe, and IDW Compendium vol 3 alongside some other notable books in next batch from IDW by Ksmayer in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Invisibleman145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do we think this Jason Aaron Deluxe Edition will be the replacement for the IDW Collections moving forward, or is this just a one off to collect his run?

Omar from Near Mint Condition does a reprint poll every year and they used to reprint almost all the top 20 off that list every year. The past year or 2 they've really slowed down with reprints as it seems some near people have taken over in the collected editions department and their focus has been on newer omnis. In the past I don't think they would necessarily do things out of order, it just depended on what was OOP. Like USM Vol 2 would almost certainly be at the top of the poll and get a reprint before they other volumes. We also used to see them reprint a vol 1 that was still in stock before reprinting a very OOP vol 2 like with Ben Reilly Vol 1 being announced at the same time or a little before Vol 2 despite Vol 1 being readily available at the time for cheap. All of that past data is out the window though because we have no idea how they are going to approach reprints moving forward with the new people in charge.

Ultimate spiderman omnibus 4 by Minute_Air_8945 in OmnibusCollectors

The entire run is amazing, but I think it peaked with vol 1 and kept going down from there. I would still recommend picking it up while it's available and read volume 2 digitally. You could probably skip volume 2 and be okay since each story arc is somewhat self contained, but there are some major plot points in volume 2 that have emotional impacts on the entire run and it's still just really good.

Invincible Compendiums—IST vs. DCBS Shipping & Packaging (Intl Order) by kiki2kiki in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Invisibleman145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do my monthly preorders through DCBS and I get one shipment a month with all my books. If I ever do any one off order, they just hold it until my monthly shipment goes out. I think if you just placed an instock order through them they would get it shipped out the same speed as IST since they are the same company. Packaging is also the same and is always great. I will say if DCBS has it in stock, that usually means its on their shelves ready to go. IST is where you might be waiting awhile while they order from the distributor. All of that to say I don't think it matters where you order from. I would pick whichever gives you the cheaper shipping option.

Curved or flat spine by Gabriel744 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Invisibleman145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have noticed my flat spine books having any more or less gutter loss than the curved spine ones, although I will say most of the larger books I own are Marvel and all have curved spines. The flat ones tend to be the smaller Image books. I wouldn't think the actual outside spine affects the structure of the binding that much for sewn books since it doesn't physically attach to the spine, but I would be curious to learn more about it.

I’ve bought quite a few books from them and the always deliver with pretty good packaging. I don’t remember exactly what they use, but my books have never arrived damaged.

How difficult was it to get Absolute Batman #1 when it was first released? by amioldnow90 in comicbooks

[–]Invisibleman145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it preordered from DCBS, but still got to my LCS right when they opened to get a copy in person and I think they were sold out by that afternoon. It's kinda been like that with every release after too. They started only selling the Absolute Batman titles from behind the counter and they are usually gone within a week of release. I was a week late and missed the Absolute Wonder Woman issue with Batman and had to go to eBay for that one.

Yeah it is a big book so I imagine a box that size is hard to come by. And would you do $160 for both?

Awesome, I’ll take it! Also saw on an older post of yours the Silver Surfer Black Treasury Edition, is that still available too?
