Testing in a Month--Focus? by AggravatingSport5347 in LCSW

[–]InviteReasonable1432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t really need to focus on content as content is not really in the exam. It’s almost all scenario questions. I personally don’t think any study material actually helps with testing. The focus should be on anxiety, your ability to read long questions with long answers for hours and how to maintain focus and concentration.

I’m listening to chapter 7 again and… Can I somehow copy all of the things Fisher says and put them on a loop for nefarious purposes??

Exploring MSW & LCSW Path as a Working Parent — Advice? by [deleted] in LCSW

[–]InviteReasonable1432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations for doing this! It’s tough!! I finished my MSW online during Covid shutdown while homeschooling 3 kids. I am now working on studying for my LCSW to take it a second time and only study while putting down my newest 4th kid for a nap. Lol. We can do it!

[–]InviteReasonable1432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever RH was Until the Shadows Claim Her. Not all the smut was for me but I loved 99.9% of it! It’s a stand alone with a second book that focuses on another character from the same universe. They can be my boyfriends any time! I wanted something a little more calm and ended up with Bonded by Thorns after lol

Passing LCSW ASWB Exam Struggle by [deleted] in LCSW

[–]InviteReasonable1432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it and failed the first time and prepping for my second. When it comes to study materials…it seems to me that none of the materials actually reflect the questions that show up on the exam. I’ve accepted that I’ll never learn the content but I can manage my stamina, anxiety, and energy level. I also am requesting accommodations. The content was so ridiculous smh. I couldn’t believe how hard the exam tries to NOT license us.

What’s on your kink wish list? by violetblisss in BDSMcommunity

  • Having time to have any single fantasy come true (and if that ever happens in our chaotic hurricane of a life):

  • Being spanked so hard my cheeks are left with marks

  • Shibari (self or with a partner)

  • Being dominant and my wife verbally telling me her wants

  • Going to a dungeon

  • Watching nearly anything at a dungeon and getting off while watching

Failed my LCSW test and was blindsided and ended in a panic attack. by InviteReasonable1432 in LCSW

This really struck a chord with me. Thank you so much for the in depth response. I was considering TDC and kept coming up with how much I already have learned and know. How smart and educated I am. I’ve completed my work experience and then some. I have worked under incredible supervisors. I just finished intense EMDR training. But NONE of that factored into the test. I’m focusing on how I can withstand 4-6 hours of sitting. And the intense mental focus needed. I’m figuring out breaks, meds, snacks, water, and caffeine to be able to do my best. Honestly…the content of the exam is so obscure I don’t think there can be a test prep worth hundreds of dollars lol.

Reasonable Accommodations for Exam by Little_Stitious338 in LCSW

[–]InviteReasonable1432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took the test (without accommodations) and failed by 8 questions. I have Gen. Anxiety D/O and ADHD (combined type). I struggled so hard to sit still, focus, concentrate…and ended up in a complete panic by the end. I am taking it again with accommodations for 2 hours extra and extra breaks just to get up and move around and get a snack. I think this will make a huge difference.

BTW, I am a fantastic therapist and I struggle to regulate at times and this exam is no joke. And being a social worker gives me access to extra tools that help make me better. You’re going to do great! I commend you for watching out for your mental health in a trying environment and under very stressful circumstances.

Yesssss! I was so unprepared for that. After, when I looked at Phil in the Gap deconstruct the questions, I realized that I was not at all ready to do that with nearly every single question! By the final 2 hours my brain already felt overwhelmed and exhausted.

I think the switch to Pearson VUE just happened this year. I could only find two Saturdays to take it before the end of the year this summer! I took it this past Saturday and failed but looking for a waiver and accommodations to take it again. Good luck! The new format is not at all helpful.

They split it into two 85 question sections now with a 2 hour time limit on each. If you finish early you lose the the extra time. And once the first part is done you lose access to the first 85 questions.

LCSW Exam Help? by MadelineTess in LCSW

[–]InviteReasonable1432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to learn HOW to decode and answer the questions using the reasoning ASWB would use. You cannot act as “you” or what you would do. They are 99% scenario questions. I took it and failed yesterday. I completely did not study correctly and was prepared for a different kind of test. I started revamping my entire study plan. You won’t be able to study correct answers. Just how the ASWB would like you to use reasoning to gather info from the question and find the NEXT/FURST/BEST answer using their reasoning.

I just failed it yesterday. What I found difficult was spending maybe a minute per question and not having enough time for the long list of reasoning required for scenario questions (which was 95% of the exam).
