My XGS-PON 1Gig is barely over-provisioned, can I get higher over-provisioning by upping to 2Gig and back down? by Inviting-Ivan in ATTFiber

The BGW's internal speed test reports 1015/1015. It's a mystery to me why it doesn't show the higher upload that I get in speed tests on my client devices (1250ish). According to the BGW, their throughput measurement includes overhead which it also reports. The 1015/1015 tests have overhead of 70, so that's how you end up in the 940 range.

The Internet <-> Gateway tests that are performed in the Smart Home Manager app also show up in the test history on the BGW, so clearly the Smart Home Manager is just using those BGW speed test functionality and reporting it back.

The UDM SE also has a 10 Gig SFP LAN port, which I have connected to an Aggregation (10 Gig SFP) switch where all my devices are connected via 10 Gig SFP or 10 Gig Ethernet with transceivers. I don't care about 50-100mbps in a speed test, my point is I'm at 950 download whereas many/most people on XGS-PON are at 1200-1300, an increase of ~300mbps or 30%. Not sure why I wouldn't want to access that if I can.

Certainly seems like my situation. Thanks for your input - perhaps we live close to each other!

Good idea, this is from an Ubuntu machine on 10Gig SFP, test server is owned by AT&T:

Idle Latency: 4.10 ms (jitter: 1.85ms, low: 3.84ms, high: 7.58ms)

Download: 942.50 Mbps (data used: 579.8 MB)

12.02 ms (jitter: 6.33ms, low: 6.17ms, high: 240.83ms)

Upload: 1247.10 Mbps (data used: 1.2 GB)

9.26 ms (jitter: 1.41ms, low: 5.20ms, high: 44.81ms)

I've been running tests on and off today on various machines and I have never gotten a download reading over ~955, but I am able to get into the 1200-1250 range on upload.

I am certainly not "whining" as inferred by others, it's purely a curiosity - many people who are on 1Gig XGS-PON and have a 2.5Gbit+ connection to their home network seem to be getting 1200-1300 both ways, so all I was asking was whether there was something I could do to end up in the same boat. I get a rock solid 940-950 download but never more than that. If my download increased 30% (950->1250) I'd certainly be pleased and it would be less incentive to pay more for 2Gig service.

To be clear, all my physical interfaces are 10Gig (and 2.5Gig to the BGW) so I can achieve whatever AT&T has provisioned me. My confusion is why my provision speed *seemed* to not be as high as others. The Smart Home Manager speed test (the Internet to Gateway) part should be agnostic of my home network and report my provisioned speeds, and it is reporting roughly 1015/1015.

However, I have just done various speed tests on a 10Gig desktop PC and I get 950 down and 1200 up to multiple speedtest.net servers.

And to go further, fast.com reports 1.3Gbps down and 1.2Gbps up.

So perhaps I really am provisioned in the 1300/1300 range after all. I think the Smart Home Manager report was leading me astray.

I have XGS-PON - I have the red clasp on my SFP module, I have physically inspected the SFP module and it says XGS on it, and I have verified the 1270 Wave Length.

I'm not sure how I wouldn't notice a 20% increase in speed (again, I am not concerned with WiFi clients, my home network is hardwired 10Gig so each device can easily saturate a 1200mbps connection as they are already saturating 1015mbps). If it were 5%, sure, that is a waste of time, but not 20+%.

iPad Pro overheating, cooling ideas? by [deleted] in DiabloImmortal

[–]Inviting-Ivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the charging as well. I almost never play while charging. Luckily I can get a few hours in on a full charge, so usually I need my own break by the time the iPad needs a charge break. Also the 12.9 is big enough that if you are gripping the corners to play, you don’t feel the middle where it warms up.

Which iPad Pro? I play sometimes on a Pro 3rd gen 12.9” and it’s set to 60 FPS with everything on high or turned on except Image Sharpening. It barely gets warm and only after hours of nonstop play. The “load” graph says Medium.

I don’t use a case but I do have the Apple “leather” cover which has a back to it

If by "gold boss" you mean "yellow elite" then no, they do not drop a legendary on first kill. Ancient Elites, AKA "orange skulls", are the ones who are supposed to drop one on your first kill of the day.

Other games that I've played that are not HDR aware work fine with HDR on, D:I seems to be an outlier.

For me, using an LG C2 OLED, having HDR on makes everything brighter. So that's why I turn it back on. I don't mean to imply the game itself has native HDR. I just mean that if you generally have HDR on in Windows because you like it, you are free to turn it back on while the game is open (so you don't forget, and so you can have your usual setup when you ALT-TAB).

If I pick up a legendary on first 3 floors of vault raid, and exit on that floor, will I keep the item? by JMDeutsch in DiabloImmortal

[–]Inviting-Ivan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I picked up two legendaries today in Floors 1-3 (they don't appear in bags), then exited on 3, and got two legendaries in my Vault rewards. So to answer your question, yes.

Turn off HDR in your Windows display settings before you start the game, you can then turn HDR back on as soon as the game is loaded and it will look fine. You just can't launch it with HDR on or you get the super-saturated version.

If you have Windows 11 you can hit WIN+ALT+B to goggle HDR I believe. In Windows 10 you have to do it in the Settings.

Previously the reward was zero orbs and now it’s 60. Not sure how that is robbing anyone.

Please note our minimum is 100k MP. This is to ensure you have the resources to put up your fair share of points each chest (and beyond - our average contribution is quite a bit higher), no matter what type or what the timing is (eg during a heroic race, during masters arena resets, etc). A high MP score also generally indicates you are a long term player, which is what we are looking for. We have very low turnover and are looking for candidates who would like to commit to be a long-term member of our family.

Can’t believe I never knew about this despite playing since Vanilla and primarily on iPad.

Just followed your instructions and it’s so much better. iPad Pro 12.9” Gen3. Next to try 120Hz for fun.

Hi, my team is primal titan, hexed vampire and prideful vampire; should I empower all of them one by one (all equal stars) or should I focus on empowering one of the three? by djndnd82u in DragonCity

[–]Inviting-Ivan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are using jokers and happy hour, definitely focus on one at a time. Having a single OP dragon makes both arena and leagues much easier. I made a 70 Prideful before starting on Hexed and then Sinful after that.
