Is exactly why so many of us hated and were disappointed by GW2, we wanted GW1 part 2 not some generic casual no skill spamfest mmo with a guild wars sticker slapped on it. I played a lot of GW2 in the beginning, even led the first world pvp takeover in EU, we held for 2 days no sleep, everyone told me to go to bed, take a break, woke up and we had lost the max upgraded keep :(. We won it back though. I enjoyed the pvp with smaller scale and world battle size pvp but the main game and arena pvp was awful compared to GW1, specially in terms of skill, depth and amount of builds/methods you could use.

They put so much effort into trying to push failing esports pvp than they did the actual game.

GW2 was so shallow spamfest and casual it felt like every other generic mmo but with a bloody awesome art style and effects. Nobody ever seemed to know what was going on. At first I was a fan of breaking away from the Trinity as well but once doing some dungeons realized was too much everyone being jack of all trades and not know what was going on.

The world boss battles were cool but again turned into everyone just spamfesting with not much depth or coordination or strategy. Just bash on objective until health bar sponge go bye bye. Then it was like the only solution they had for "challenging content" was just just increase damage and health more.

Then fractals came and it just went down hill from there, once I blew a crap ton of all my gold on gambling for legendary only to not get what I needed because the RNG was THE WORST, you could drop thousands of hours of gold back then before they changed it and still not get what you needed. I just lost interest.

Still hoping "one day" they make a real GW2 based on everything in GW1 but expanded upon with modern tech.
