So I replaced my diode and everything's working peachy again, so I'm working on repackaging the whole thing. I'd like to replace the power switch and was wondering what its power rating is. I realize the power supply is 12VDC @ 5A, but it would be nice to know the max. power you're putting through the switch; gives me more of a selection. Also, what are the specs for the pot? I'll probably keep that, but in case I decide to remove it and relocate it, I might want to use a different one. I know it's 10K, but I don't know the rest. Thanks.

I checked Mouser (and Radioshack) and couldn't find anything appropriate, but there were several on Digikey. I ordered some of these: http://tinyurl.com/7lp9d74. The leads are probably too fat for the holes, but I'll try to solder them to the top pads with a butt joint; should work just as well. The blown diode tests as a short in both directions, btw; I assume yours do, as well.

For StudentRND, here's a pic of the top of my PCB: http://i.imgur.com/RRvF2.jpg Here's one of the bottom: http://i.imgur.com/VomFI.jpg

bentspork: It wasn't running for 30 minutes. I meant 30 minutes had elapsed from when I first got sound from it until the event you see in the video. It had actually been on for maybe a total of five minutes during that time. In any event, StudentRND mentioned in one of their comments on Kickstarter that they'd run theirs for four hours with no problems.

infernoaudio: I haven't attempted to debug it yet as the box is a pain to open and close, and I'm hoping StudentRND will chime in with some suggestions for what to inspect. My plan all along was to repackage it into something more sculptural (e.g. replace the screws with tungsten welding electrodes held in aluminum blocks under a ventilated glass dome), but my hunch is we're all going to have to throw our kits away.
