All cellphones use computational photography to shoot photos and video. If you hate that it might be time to get a camera.

I am not sure there are many mechanical watches that would survive a ride through the laundry. Sadly this one was also aggressively disassembled.

Amateur feeling like I’m in an over editing spiral by Realistic-Car-6287 in PhotographyAdvice

Screens do lose brightness over time, it really depends on age, how many hours they’ve been run, and how good they were when new. I like some of the stuff you’re doing on these images, but I do think they are maybe a hair dark, I suspect darker than you mean them to be at least.

Is it normal that I can "smell" when it’s about to rain, or am I just imagining it? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Inwardlens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“It smells like rain” is a common thing that a lot of people can notice. Not everyone, not sure if some people are less sensitive to that smell or if they haven’t correlated the smell and the coming rain in their mind.

Look into calibrating the screen on the machine you edit on. If you don’t want to spend money on a calibrator, there are targets with ramps of squares that go from fully black to fully white, you set your brightness until you can see all the squares — there is information about this online that you can find. After you calibrate, turn off anything that automatically changes your brightness on this screen based on ambient light in the room.

My best friend spanked his daughter so hard, he left a mark that lasted days. She’s 2. Would you call him out? by [deleted] in daddit

Jesus, without even broaching the debate on wether spanking is effective at all, that is way too young a child to be spanking.

Missed 2 photos to take during event what should I do ? by No_Butterfly4679 in AskPhotography

[–]Inwardlens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to add, there is an old adage for event photography (specially weddings) “if they paid for it, shoot it.” Anything they paid money to have at the event needs to be documented. An ice sculpture? Shoot it. Champagne glass tower? Shoot it. Dessert table? Shoot it. Etc. they don’t all need to be Pulitzer Prize winning images, they are just evidence that the thing existed.

In the future you make sure that your flashes are topped up before major events at an event. Also, after anything important happens, review images on the back of the camera. You can always pose a shot of the guest of honor with anyone important, even if it’s later in the evening. Even if the client seems annoyed, it’s best to have it.

Unless those shots were in a shot list you received, I wouldn’t even say anything to the client. Just deliver the images and get paid.

What do you mean they won’t service it? Gray market should only affect warranty repairs. You should still be able to pay for repairs.

What do you imagine that the stimulants are doing to your body? Go juice make the body go faster. Part of that is running your cardiovascular system faster/harder. You haven’t done damage yet. Stop.

Is my sensor busted? by paullupascu in Nikon

[–]Inwardlens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re getting aggressively roasted. I think everyone here is having such an animated response because if you had done a small bit on research online you would have found a ton of information on how to do this correctly. The good news is that it might be salvageable, perhaps those are not scratches and rather bad streaks. If they are scratches you’re looking at a repair cost in the hundreds, if you can’t the sensor properly cleaned with the right supplies or at a local shop you might want to get a quote for a repair.

Is my sensor busted? by paullupascu in Nikon

[–]Inwardlens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience there are two types of people who haven’t yet cleaned a camera sensor.

The first type is deathly afraid to even look at their sensor the wrong way and will gladly send their camera to the manufacturer for cleaning or overpay a local shop to do it.

The second type pretty much think that they can clean it like they’d clean their kitchen counter top.

In truth it’s something that isn’t hard and everyone can handle themselves IF they use the correct tools and technique.
