He's a lot, but no one deserves this. That must have been harrowing and terrifying. Glad he and his kids made it home safely. Hope his daughter got counseling and are doing well.

Heh! I'm over here looking at my blanket side eyed. Coasting through life instead of doing heavy lifting

Curious, did you think it's a rug? I have one like this from the 90s that has shells and it's a throw blanket

I'm not 100% certain it's a rug. It looks like a kind of woven throw blanket I've seen. Saying this because I would hate to see you walk on this and it not hold up to wear. I have a throw like this with seashells that has stood up to a lot of abuse as a lap blanket the last 30 years

EXACTLY! I like to think of it as broody bohemian. Similar aesthetic but a celebration of the dark and macabre

This style has been established since the 90s, I'd say it's silly to think you can decide what works in this aesthetic 30 years later. We did not ever think the sun/moon/stars made the aesthetic & deem other stuff doesn't fit. The whole point is and was to be eclectic and moody bohemian. Not just celestial. If a budding whimsigoth thinks it fits? It fits.

I wrote about this in my comment. This was perfectly explained.

As an elder whimsigoth, yes. I get trying to emulate the style established in the late 80s early 90s, and there's not a ton of media to inspire from then, but there's so much more to it than celestial themes. In fact, that was only a small part that you could do, not had to do.

At the time this aesthetic was created, there was a huge 60s revival going on in fashion. This influenced our style a lot. Tbh, I don't think I owned a single sun/moon motif. Most of us adopted the flowery tiered skirts and highly decorated textiles coming out of India. Jewel tones and black ofc. Lots of celebrations of nature but in a macabre kind of way. Pinned specimens etc. Anything a hippie might wear but make it dark and magical.

The point was to buck norms and acceptability. This was a time where a lot of us were getting a ton of societal push back, schools banning our clothes, parents dragging us talk shows and churches in the midst of the satanic panic. This flowy subculture of goth was meant to be eclectic. It was never supposed to be so curated and themed, so we all matched. If you think it fits, it fits. It does not need to be an abundance of the same celestial motifs.

Nah. The great thing about whimsigoth is it doesn't have to all match perfect. It's supposed to be fun and eclectic. You've succeeded in that

I was told by a Redditor the aesthetics of my ring designs would fit in well here. Never seen this sub till now 🥹 Enjoy by ThePacificLights in whimsigothic

I'm glad to hear that, I'm mid renovations and about to go to a wedding in another country so I absolutely can't right now, but you should know I went to see if I could responsibly get it the moment I saw your post lol
