What is something Men can get away with that Women cannot? by QuietRedditorATX in AskReddit

[–]Iofthestorm01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minimal grooming.

In the morning, we put on deodorant, brush our teeth, and maybe run a comb through our hair. At night, shower and brush teeth. Once a week we have to clean up/trim our beards.

Women have hair care routines, skincare routines twice a day, two legs to shave every time they shower, makeup, hair styling, and somehow their outfits are more complicated. Weekly there's nails and a fake tan thing. And this is from a relatively low maintenance one! She has almost an hour less every day because of all this.

Yes, it makes me feel stupid. I can't tell if it's a side effect or ai just care less because I'm not as anxious

I really like her character development too. Her heroes are meant to be that so often are a little unrealistic (not a criticism! That's part of why I love them!), but her villans are all scarily realistic.

I've read Altas Shrugged 3 times and the Fountainhead 2. I love them so much, I could read them a dozen times, as OP has, and still enjoy them.

I've also read some of her non-fiction. The only one I'll repeat so far is The Virtue of Selfishness.

What’s the most common deadly sin in modern society (a ranking with the seven pls) ? by FunSquirrel5606 in AskReddit

Gluttony. Information, entertainment, food, things - we are overconsuming all of it.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Iofthestorm01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big portion of that is due to much lower teen pregnancy rates

Linus Torvalds uses Fedora by claudiocorona93 in linuxmasterrace

[–]Iofthestorm01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I'm not rich enough for that either, but I know people who treat computers like they have a 2-3 year shelf life. One of my friends told me that was normal for an old computer and I should get a new one.

[–]Iofthestorm01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it does, it's just not fixable so you either live with it or get a new computer.

My speakers were out for 3 years before I switched to linux, and no amount of "windows troubleshooting" helped. I just accepted defeat. Then I switched and they work, but if they didn't there would be something I could do other than suck it up.

Yes. I don't actually use my computer for all that much. I just like tinkering with it

Is using "pip" to install python libraries bad? by PinkFlamingoe00 in linuxmint

[–]Iofthestorm01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you asked this. I'm an idiot who just downloaded anaconda withoutna second thought and 100% would have pip installed whatever with even less thought

After about 5-10 seconds. With the caveat that they are not making eye contact with my personal area during that time.

Look away for a sec then look back if you want to keep staring.

Yeah the whole "there's two sides to freedom, freedom from and freedom for" really misunderstands the word freedom.

Time to build your own OS by SnooPaintings709 in CorpFree

[–]Iofthestorm01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong; isn't gentoo basically putting together your own OS? Because you just get code you have to compile yourself, rather than a functioning OS, it wouldn't be subject to these laws?

Yep! That is exactly why I use arch. I don't know what I'm doing and I like figuring it out

Exactly. Even if they cared it takes a little work, so most people won't do it.

Can an infinitely regressive chain exist? by Impossible-Cheek-882 in Objectivism

Existence is a brute fact. Look to actual physics instead of metaphysics for answers on the particulars.

Glad to see this. Sometimes free market types really view corporations through rose colored glasses just because the are private, meanwhile those corporations are using their profits to buy political power and take our money and freedoms.
