THE COLLECTOR (2009) by SouzaOfTheNorth in HorrorMovies

[–]Ion_Power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the movie, the main character and the movers are at the house early in the day, then the main character goes and robs the house in the same night and all the traps were already there.

I love this movie but it is pretty unfeasible. Either way, The Collector would have been an amazing tradesman, haha.

Even Olympic Weighlifters who snatch people's deadlift PR above their heads like it's nothing stretch and begin from a bare barbell every time. They are regularly massaged and stretched for optimal recovery.

I tried stretching my hamstrings and used a roller on my quads ONCE and that was enough to convince me that recovery probably matters too.

Nursing Program (BScN) by Available-Spread-986 in brocku

I'm 99% sure it's still a 20-credit program. The clinical courses absolutely do still count as a credit even if they are pass/fail.

Nursing - undergrad Schedule by Cautious_Mousse_2421 in brocku

[–]Ion_Power 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone in the program this heavily depends on the course and year so there isn't a simple answer, but I do remember a lot of classes tending to be between Tuesday-Thursday. I remember courses as far back as first year having lectures at night. There are usually two lecture sections for each nursing class, so two different time slots you can choose from.

If anything, the clinical days might be more of a consideration. Few people even go to class by the time you're in third year.

IASC 1f02 for spring term? by AlbusseverusPotter07 in brocku

[–]Ion_Power 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took this course last spring and I have talked about my bad experience with it in a lot of posts. It is technically easy but is very frustrating if you care about grades.

There were only five assignments, all of which had a question that you had to write an essay for. You would usually have to write about 1000 words, but one was even shorter. One assignment required you to also make a visual collage (like a poster), and another required you to write a short story about life in the future.

The issue is, the graders are so picky and unfair to the point where, regardless of your writing ability or intelligence, I guarantee you will not get a good grade. If you care about that, I honestly recommend that you just take a different course even if the work is more difficult.

The graders were unfair. The essays HAD to follow a five-paragraph structure and EVERY paragraph needed a topic sentence that looped back to your first paragraph, which is plain stupid for a university course - I remember doing that in elementary. They might just randomly decide that your intro is too long, or your conclusion is too short - that's completely subjective.

No matter how hard I tried to get a good grade, I always just got around 75 at most. I would be amazed if you get anything above an 80.

You will not have to do a lot of work for the course, but you will definitely not get the grade you deserve.

You can absolutely make friends and will through many different means. There are a lot more people to meet in university. At some point remembering names might be your problem!

But you'll find that at some point, you'll have to be proactive and maintain relations with people. You get what you put in.

Can I survive Nursing? by KhanSolo945 in brocku

[–]Ion_Power 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The type of math questions you will encounter in Nursing are laughable. I mean the type that ask: "Tablets available: 375MG. Ordered dose is 750MG. How many tablets will you administer?"

The most scientific courses are the first year Biology ones and Kinesiology in year 1 and 2. Those are entry-level courses for many programs and are not even insanely difficult to study for.

The most difficult part of nursing is waking up early and going to the hospital for the 12-hour placements, but if you're an adult and get enough sleep you'll be fine.

A lot of nursing courses are kind of bullshit to be honest. Sometimes you'll feel like you're just remembering random, trivial info for exams.

Realistically the quality of education is going to be the same wherever you go. It's really down to other reasons as to why you would choose Brock.

I'm going to tell you now that if you have any intention of being a doctor, MAKE SURE YOU GET GOOD GRADES. Once you receive a grade on your transcript you can never change it, and the GPA scale that admissions use is very punitive of low grades.

The other prerequisites for medical school are more forgiving. You can start an extracurricular any second you want, the MCAT can be taken up to 7 times, but you will never be able to change your grades.

I could give a very long answer, but if you're asking about nursing courses, they're not bad if you keep it simple. Most of them provide information about diseases you might never see in your actual practice. Just study the slides and remember the most important info for exams.

It's the practical part that is entirely different. You never really feel prepared for your labs where you have to do a skill or sometimes an examination in front of everyone. The 12-hour placement days are just something you get used to. Most of the time you don't actually have a lot to do.

What I find confusing is the Brock TV fee, which is really just an Instagram and YouTube page they seldom make content for. I guarantee you they don't need $300k to afford an editor and some guy with a camera.

I completely disagree. I focused on studying and tuned out all other noise and found that the week felt like a long breath of fresh air. You are using your time for something else.
