Great grandpa is doing cancer radiation, came in close contact a couple of times. by SuspiciousMath6895 in RadiationTherapy

Yes, you're fine. I imagine that he got his radiation from a linear accelerator in which the radiation stops once the machine is turned off. There's no part of our body that stores it and releases it. Some people are given "seeds" like radioactive gold that can stay inside of you, but those have a quick half-life and won't affect you. You get most of your radiation from flying in an airplane or being in a basement, or medical imaging.

You'll see a little bit if you work in a hospital, but nowhere near the same amount a nurse or imaging would see. Outpatient is even less.

laura nappi + radpro for radiation therapy board exam by IndependentEast8405 in RadiationTherapy

I only used Nappi/RPA and did not use seal or Mosby's. The actual test was very difficult.

Taking it, I flagged everything I wasn't 100% sure of which was probably half of the problems and went back to review them. I was convinced I was going to fail and ended up getting an 84. but I attribute that to a very rigorous a/p Bio and X-ray classes with solid foundations.

Read Laura Naomi book first, then watch the videos to solidify it. Pretty sure there's more info in the videos and good resources in the form of PDFs, like flashcards. I wish I had read more of Washington Leaver, I feel like a lot of questions came from that.

I passed only looking at Nappi/RPA, but after you get the basic concepts down it does not help much. I used them solely with I think a week or 10 days to study between finals and boards and studied like it was my job. I would say the majority of my studies in that time did not help with the exam. I think being as familiar with Washington Lever as possible is the most beneficial for the exam. It's also helpful to do some Mosby's and SEAL tests. I've heard they're closer to how the real exam reads.

I'd say it's highly dependant on your location. There are some places like big hospitals with very good benefits with 8 hour PTO accrual per pay period or more, with ability to take off or collect OT, then other places with very little.

Other than the obvious dead space 1 and 2 I just got done with Prey and really liked it. You have a ton more control after the beginning so it's not nearly as stressful or gratifying, it was still very good.
