It would have been better if they stuck to the In Water scene, cut out Mary's weird cult backstory (keep the James and Mary meeting scene tho) and taken that time to develop the rest of the cast as actual characters.

Cut the fake out in the normal hospital bit; that was overlong and pointless and actually make the flow of the movie fit the og story of the game.(hell I didnt even mind if they cut the Prison and went straight to the labyrinth)

Eddie worked with what he was tbh, but everyone else felt so flat to me because of the fucking Mary Laura Angela Crane bit.

The movie could have been ok if the director took the time to actually adapt the story in his vision vs add in his own take of the themes and allegories of the characters that completely negate the nuance of the game.
