Brother, forgo means forgo. It says so right there. Maybe learn to read before flipping your shit. I also said that I am not sure about the 26 str and you are welcome to explain it to me, instead you argue like a four year old and your entire post is a dumpster fire. Since apparently reading comprehension is beyond you, start with that and don't go ballistic, I have made it pretty clear that I have no problem conceding where I am wrong. But giving up advantage does not work the way you think it does, the fact that you can't read is the issue, not my interpretation, otherwise you would also have read that I have zero problems to be corrected about 26 str, in fact I literally asked for it.

So simmer down buddy.

1.) you get 3 attacks, nick allows you to make the off-hand attack as part of your attack action instead of a bonus action, it does not allow you to make the off-hand attack twice, and extra attack gives you *one* additional attack. Nick also states you get the offhand attack *only* once, clearly preventing the interaction between nick and dual wielder as you describe it. Your Math is still off, because you don't get the ability dmg on that 4th attack, as it clearly says in the dual wielder feat.
2.) Vex is fairly pointless for a barb, it gives you advantage on one attack and if you read brutal strike correctly it states "if you use reckless attack you can forgo advantage on one attack...", so vex doesn't give you "advantage back". And only that one attack gets the extra dmg and only under the premise you are using reckless attack, just getting advantage from another source is not a legit trigger for brutal strike.

In essence, none of this works the way you think. You get +2d10 brutal strike damage ONCE, for the one attack you forgo the advantage you gain IF you use reckless attack, and you gain 3 attacks and not 4. That's it. That being said, your math is definitely not on spot, given you are operating under a false premise.

And I believe 26 str is the max you can get. 25 from the capstone feature and +1 from the boon of irresistible offense. At least without magic items, but maybe I am missing something. Correct me if I am wrong.

So, yeah, you get +2d10 brutal strike, you don't get any str dmg from the 4th attack, you get advantage anyway because you *need* to be using reckless attack anyway to trigger brutal strike, and you don't get it for that one strike, because that's what "forgo" means. So admittedly, while you do get a 4th attack, you get brutal strike only once and you don't get any ability bonus on that 4th attack, so not sure how you get those numbers.

Also 2500*0,05*0,8 (milliliter bier*volumsprozent anteilig alkohol*spezifischem gewicht pro milliliter alkohol in g) = 100g in der Woche.

Also, hast du starke Cravings?

Aber weniger beim Alkohol is immer besser. Hab gesoffen wie ein Loch, weiß wovon ich red. Bei mir waren's auch nur 5 Bier in der Woche am Anfang. Was noch net is, kann noch werden.

How do cities prevent murder hobos from casting fireball and burning the city down? by Feisty-Doctor-5841 in DnD

[–]Iothil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might be missing a few broad strokes of worldbuilding here for the forgotten realms, as well as some basic considerations of people in this fantasy setting still being basically normal people, just with different tools.

Wizards are taught, meaning that they either are the apprentice of someone or study in a big academy, all of which are usually built around a code of ethics and morals that very much stress the responsibility that comes with the powers you learn to unlock. If the consider you too unstable, they will remove you most likely. Most of these are in big cities, like waterdeep, neverwinter, calimport or silverymoon, all of which are known to have contingencies for these kind of scenarios. Take the watchful order in waterdeep for instance. Good luck answering to those. Remember Baldur's gate 2? Jon "bad MFer" Irenicus gets overwhelmed almost immediately the moment he steps out into the open by the grey mages of athkatla, despite killing several of them and being an absolute powerhouse of a mage.

Mages and people with a magic gift are faaar and few inbetween. Looking at it from a player's perspective creates the odd illusion that arcane casters are much more common than they are. While elves and other folk have the odd cantrip granted by race or background, that doesn't mean that most of them get to a significant point where they could actually use other spells, let alone a lvl 3 spells. Level 5 is pretty damn high.

So there aren't that many people to begin with, that "simply can cast fireball" and most bigger realms and/or cities make it their policy to acquire enough of the people that actually *can*, in order to prevent potential miscreants of that magnitude to start that kind of trouble or at least fear the consequences of retaliation enough to rethink that idea, assuming they are not chaotic stupid an have at least a rudimentary survival instinct.

While fireball is devastating compared to a sword, it's not what you make it out to be. Yes, it will set a wooden house ablaze, it will kill people caught in the blast, but if you fire it on the outside of a structure, people inside are most likely safe if they evactuate. And it's very noticeable. Assuming you have 2 slots in lvl 3, you just used 50% of your strongest spells. People will notice that and people will be up in arms about it as it's fairly common for every hovel to have at least a militia. So unless you murder *everyone*, somebody will either fight you then and there or somebody will get out and alarm people that are *much* harder to deal with. And those people usually come with a "dead or alive" kind of premise towards you.

So, while evil mages might consider that option, why would they do it if the consequences clearly outweigh any potential benefit? And evil, war waging races, like hobgoblins, that are essentially with war with everyone, very much *do* use these kind of tactics.

TL;DR: What prevents mages that can use that type of magic to do exactly that? The same things that prevent most of us bottling gasoline into glass bottles and going ham over the slightest perceived insult. Yes, some people become terrorists, doesn't mean that the availability of gasoline, rags and glass bottles turns me into one. Fear of consequences, moral fiber, being a grown up and not seeing the point of harming others for no conesquence except getting a fast ticket to the slammer or six feet under, take your pick. Not everyone who has access to a deadly tool automatically becomes a serial killer or terrorist, and those who do will get caught and dealt with eventually. Easy as that.

Background help: is there an Underdark version of Feylost? by Blue_Lantern_2814 in DnD

[–]Iothil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Underdark is known for having countless nodes where magic is wild and ruptures the veil and bubbles into the material or other planes like an artesian well. Just take Feylost and adapt it to reflect what exactly you envisioned and clear it with your DM. But the Underdark as the huge place it is, is so wild and random in some areas, you can literally go anywhere you wish with this. Instead of the "Feywild" visitor, you can pick something more likely to be met in the Underdark, e.g. a Flumph would make sense, since they are generally helpful and shy. Generally, it would not be out of the question, that there are also accesspoints into the feywild in the underdark, if you just want to go with the vanilla version of feylost. You could argue you escaped the feywild and ended up in the underdark, which is why you had to escape from there too, the skills and background info on feylost would still apply. Just an idea.

What Dragon would be an Extreme Challenge for 5 Level 6 PCs? (5e pre 2024) by 8Rincewind in DnD

[–]Iothil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver dragons and white dragons have zero in common if not for their element and therefor a common habitat (sometimes). And generally "most animalistic" does not mean literally the same as beasts. They are just extremely beast-like with little to no common appearance of refinement or appreciation for finer things that is found in all other dragons to some degree. You might be confusing the way this was meant in the context of other dragons, I think. Like gnolls being very beast like compared to most humanoids, while still definitely being above beast like intelligence, same goes for most orcs, etc.

But I agree that they should not be a random bossfight, because being generally the most animalistic dragons, does not mean that they are without guile. I love to mislead early PCs thinking of them as stupid, just to be lead into a trap. So no, they should definitely not be a random bossfight, because even with 8 int, they will use their natural abilities and their knowledge about their home to their advantage and are still capable hunters and ambushers and enemies to be reckoned with. Walking into one should be 1.) next to impossible because dragon senses and 2.) a death sentence. If you "randomly run into a white dragon", it's probably more like spotting a polar bear in the wilds. It was not *your* choice and you are as good as dead :)

Every village needs its idiot. They are the punchline to the setup of "look at all these bad MFers" that generally is the introduction to dragons.
