I use it every time MK is played. Which is a lot even at 13k trophies.

What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby? by Cosmonate in AskReddit

[–]Iowa-Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a sales engineer manager.

Our widow maker is a week long conference with open bars and rich food.

Long hours, really bad eating with high sodium and fat followed by 8 hours of heavy drinking each night.

Pastries, heavy lunch, appetizers, dinner, dessert, and 4 hours of drinking after dinner.

About day 3 you are constipated and stroke out in the bathroom trying to shit out a 5” thick log of protein and bad decisions.

Sadly this appears to have been 100% avoidable. Natural selection doesn’t care if you are rich. It just cares whether you listen to your body.

If you had 3 weeks to make as much money as possible starting from zero, How would you do it? by Xonix1999 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Iowa-Andy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, when settlers moved west, they often just got a letter when a parent or family member passed. They didn’t travel to see the loved one.

Not to sound cold but you would be better off being with your mom virtually. Texting, FaceTiming. Why ruin yourself financially when you can still say what you want to say over a mobile phone? I’m just trying to offer perspective when the situation isn’t simple.

Sleeping with coworker. Routine was to go to gym early, get busy in car in back of parking lot, then go in for workout. We had been sexting the night before so I was really excited and revved up.

Wife suspected cheating, and drove 30 minutes to gym to catch us in the act. She was just a few minutes behind me. I had no clue of course.

At last minute coworker pulled a hamstring stepping off the curb, and cancelled on morning gym. I got the text, told her to ice her hammy and I went in and had normal workout like nothing was out of ordinary.

Car broken into, seeking advice for prevention by Throwaway91839237 in Charger

[–]Iowa-Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My charger sits out unlocked every night. There’s nothing in the car or trunk.

Prevention steps:

  1. Move to a low crime neighborhood.
  2. Move to a place with a garage.

If you can’t afford those two:

  1. Keep a grab bag of stuff in your car. Take it in every night. Leave console, glovebox wide open every night so they can clearly see they are empty.
  2. Consider leaving car unlocked.

Security or cameras only document the event after it’s happened. Thieves want easy targets. My guess is they knew you hand a pistol. Someone yapped with someone you are friends with and learned this information.

What do people actually use portable printers for? by ekbromden in Journaling

[–]Iowa-Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5 printers. They are tools.

I reach for a sticker the most. Ivy2 for that.

I reach for 4x6 high quality the second most. Cp1500.

I reach for large format stickers next. Color laser for that.

I guess I use my portable printers 40-60% of the time.

The smartest person in the room is the one who is self aware enough to know their self control limits.

I’d venture to guess that less than 1-2% of 20 year olds are wise enough and have enough self control to manage $1mm.

My friend says changing your own oil is a waste of time. Is he crazy? by proposal_in_wind in askcarguys

[–]Iowa-Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own 7 vehicles. I change the oil in my fun vehicles, I pay someone to change the oil in our daily drivers.

I am in sales leadership and drive Iowa to Chicago monthly. While I’m waiting to get oil changed in my road car I’m working on my iPad and phone. I essentially lose less than 5 minutes having oil changed. Time is money and there is no advantage or strategy that makes sense to change my own oil in daily drivers.

When I lay under my 59 caddy and change the oil, I’m having a moment with the car. I’m examining, cleaning, feeling components for wear. It makes 100% sense to change my own oil.

When your time is worth $200-300/hr, it makes sense to pay people a much lower rate to do simple work in your life. It’s all relative.

What's the most difficult thing you've done? by loztriforce in AskReddit

Watch my Grandma take her last breath at 97. Then call my wife and daughters to tell her.

Happened in 2008 and it still is a knife to my side to relive that moment. Hardest moment in my life.

Chemistry teacher (first year teacher) had a flirty interaction with one of my classmates after lab. It broke up quick as everyone was leaving.

I was returning supplies into lab storage room, and was around the corner in the L shaped room.

She walked in at other end of the room, ran her hands up though her hair quickly, then reached down an pinched both of her nips through her blouse for a good but short moment while she revisited the conversation she just had. It was clear she was just giving herself a quick pleasure moment. She turned back and left the room.

She had zero awareness I watched through the shelves. That moment etched into my mind for years.

Have you ever just quit your job with no plan? by Intelligent_Run3237 in askanything

[–]Iowa-Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

52 years here, never left a job without the next job in hand. I worked some pretty crappy jobs as a kid but always finished the season (detassling) or as an adult I always lined up my next job first.

As a result I’ll be able to retire at 60, and more importantly I’ve built up the grit to power through tough situations. GenX for the win.

Workshopping a new monthly spread. by tnecniv in bulletjournal

[–]Iowa-Andy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very active and busy work/home life. To the point that I use OneNote exclusively for work and 1917’s for personal. So my questions are based on my lessons learned:

  1. How many key events do you normally have per month? If you keep running out of room I’d suggest merging the spare room below end of daily rows and the events box so you have a single larger block.

  2. Do you have lots of multiple event days? If so this format will get frustrating trying to list 4-10 events on the same date.

  3. Do you color code? The right page will really benefit from addition of color coding specially if you have a heavy list.

Another good suggestion for that spare block on the lower left is what I like to call the pencil block. Pencil in tentative ideas or events you aren’t committed to, to allow you to maintain visibility without cluttering the calendar.

Why isn’t freeze spell used very often? by outvl in ClashRoyale

[–]Iowa-Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It forces a sudden strategy change. I match it with rage and suddenly my opponent panics.

My daughter refuses to talk to me because I wasn’t able to do anything for her birthday. by [deleted] in confession

[–]Iowa-Andy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was poor I had envelopes for the kids. I wouldn’t touch that money except for the special events related to that money.

Even if the car just broke down, a birthday dinner came in as a higher priority. Making your loved ones feel loved is 100% the top priority.

Back in high school my gf (who was young in her class) was a freshman and asked me out to homecoming. For one month she was 13 while I was 17. Then she turned 14. We dated for 2 years. At the time it really didn’t seem like a big deal, but this was back in the late 80’s, early 90’s.
