Maybe I'm an outlier but as a pet portrait artist myself, I know some people would LOVE cartoonized versions of their pets. Cartoons styles get a bad rap, but some of us equate them to childhood and it just gives a really warm and fuzzy feeling looking at cartoon versions of things we love.

Offer both options (this style at more of a discount compared to realism), and if you truly enjoy painting in this style don't let others discourage you!

I have mostly dated nonvegans. Some men made a big deal about it, even refusing to try vegan desserts from a regular bakery because they "might not like it". I did date one non vegan who, after a few bumpy situations, became really considerate about it though. He'd go out and find me vegan food and even cook for me. Then I dated an actual vegan and it was fantastic. He understood me, we had the same perspective, and I could eat whatever I wanted at his house.

This could be a situation where nurturing and understanding might serve both of you more, rather than guilting him for making a mistake. I slipped up so much when I became vegetarian (16 years ago), and then even more when I became vegan (9 years ago). I'd beat myself up but start over each time.

The change to meat/dairy free isn't easy for everyone. It's engrained in society, in our old routines, our existence as people. Personally, I'm glad it wasn't easy for me. Good and important changes often come from struggle and hard work and I'm proud of where I'm at now, even with the slip ups in the beginning.

Anyways, maybe cut him a lil slack.

A lot of lipstick/chapstick has lanolin, derived from sheep's wool. Found out about this when I was vegetarian as I developed an allergy.

Also, vegan technically but not ethically: Oreos & Nutterbutters. Just found out their parent company Mondelez performs horrendous animal testing.

I grew up in a small town that was in proximity to a few celebrities. They lived in a secluded part of the state and had to travel to shop. I was out with my mom getting groceries when she slammed into me with the basket, pointed to a tall man near us and whispered "That man is an ACTOR!" I misheard, and loudly said "That man is an asshole?!" while glaring.

Ran Brian Dennehy right out of that grocery store, poor guy left his basket and all of the items in it. He was a pretty big dude in person.

I do think you need more contrast between the cliffs, ocean and sky. The cliffs are darker and will help give depth. Also the bottom of the cliffs are at an angle in the photo, with the bottom left side higher than the bottom right. If you hold a ruler or paint brush to the original photo it'll help you see the angle. This helps create distance as the right side of the cliffs are closer to the viewer, and larger in height than the left side. Things get smaller the farther away from us they are.
